Mission counts (stop me from chalking my wall)

Every 16 missions of a particular level you receive a storyline mission.

Nowhere in game does it record the accumulated number of completed missions for eact type.

It might record completed missions against factions and corporations as transactions, but you can't always discern what type of mission or level unless you analyse the details and that isnt always possible. Thus any chance of a workaround here is largley cumbersome if mixing activities with mission types, levels and factions.

Proposal is simply to have a list of mission levels and an accumulated count accordingly held in the journal. If possible be useful to see by type (security, distribution, mining, research ..) also, but not as necessary. It might be problematic also doing this unless mission logs are sufficiently time stamped to afford their removal after a stroyline is completed or declined.

Principally its to keep track and do the counting since I'm too lazy really to keep a tally, spend ages working it out from logs in some cases, or just that it would be a really helpfull addition.

Not needed and not a priority. Better off CCP working on something else.

I agree not a high priority.

Quoted from Moving avatars thread by Yuuknow:

Doable, yes.

Sensible, no (consider graphics cards and memeory usage) for benefit.

Priority, hell no.

You do realize that there is an entire graphics department of Eve Online that is independently working on Eve art/graphics at all times right? Its not like they have to pause all other game developement just to work on one thing at a time.

Not bitter?

At least this suggestion adds useful and helpful functionality rather than just eye candy.

What's wrong with keeping a tally on a bit of paper?

Nothing really useful about it. Better off not wasting time on it.

Oh, and anyway, Eve's been a leader in eye-candy from launch, pretty much blowing the other MMOPGs out of the water in terms of graphics. The more they push the graphics/eve-candy envelope, the better.

I'd prefer the system to keep track, distractions throwin off counts, don't want to waste ink and paper when a virtual record can do it or the chance of losing the record due to a break. Just makes sense. Not essential however, as I'll just do missions until the message. But some people like to plan their focus I guess.

I agree on stuff thats needed and relevant. (Try reading your own thread, troll)

And my point was that this suggestion added functionaility that managed something, not just make things look pretty. I'm not against eye candy, just that game play for me comes first, function over form.

Add display variable to Mission entry in Journal job done, now was that hard?

Too trivial for anyone to ever spend coding time on. Letting this thread die.

Sooo, why do we need counters for this???

It's 16 missions. My counter is when I get a message from the storyline agent.
It's not like your given no warning that you have a storyline mission available.

Not to mention, that's just another thing that's gonna annoy me cause i'll be looking at it all the time, just like when my wallet blinks.

Besides, not keeping count means it's a suprise every time the storyline agent contacts you, and I like suprises.

Seeing as the game has to keep count to initiate storyline missions It may only be a lookup and display issue from the database. For which someone above suggested a "shorthand" way of displaying it.

So whilst will incurr some development time, might be low hanging fruit.

Some people like to plan their time also based on variable activity and especially for those who may have a minimal amount of time to invest.

Possibly valid for a surprise, but its an expected one. Don't have to peak at the logs. Blink

You can turn blinks off.
