My ship would not start flying or changing directions on its own .....

I too wish your ship would plummet right into that asteroid or station undeterred as well.

You forget that evidence has shown those Items are made of a soft Undamaging Substance.

I suspect some sort of Rubber, possibly even Marshmallow.

Oh you mean your own stray clicking on some random window or object or dual boxing that sent you unknowingly in some random direction for about 30 seconds until you realize "oh ****!?". Less bug and more pilot error.
