Whoah, I wasn't expecting such a positive feedback. We are simply fixing some things that we broke so that we can move forward. Tbh we've had our head somewhat placed in the lowermost segment of the large intestine and are finally coming out for air.

Funny how when you stop making your game worse and return that functionality, everyone is happy.

Torfi and Craig,
realize that ppl don't want your god damn space barbie?
realize that incarna is utterly worthless and has no potential?
realize that 99% of people will turn your incarna OFF?
can we get a proper "mistakes were made" devblog
or a "mission accomplished" devblog because some work and testing of the WOD engine were completed

look at you now Torfi and Craig immerse in this http://youtu.be/gvehBd6B1bE

We opted for no cut scene ingame, simply because it happens so often. Way back in beta we had this beautiful 2001-esque docking sequence, every time you wanted to dock with a station. Ofc, after docking a few times, it became tedious as hell, so we decided to sacrifice immersion on the altar of usability. Same applies for a pod-exit cut scene.

Having a real-time in-game cutscene that you can quickly skip would be nice though, at least something that can be disabled quickly in the options menu. Sometimes we like quick in-out, but other times we like to be entertained with immersion. When I dock, I want NPC ships to come escort my ship and to tow it into station while the servers are doing their thing. If I want to skip after things are ready, a small button shows up. If the animation is quick enough, it will be seamless.

Think about a PS3 game without in-game cutscenes for a moment. Are you also cutting all in-game cutscenes from Dust?

Not a good idea. With the sizes of some ships counted in kilometers it will take hours to make such a trip.

This is a good beginning, but let's not get carried away: it's not the messiah, it's a promise to start addressing the long-standing neglect of Eve at some point soon.

Good blog and good changes, but don't take positive feedback as an indication that this alone will suffice.

couple of things:
- why old hangar? not new "old" with old features + new shiny buttons? can't you make an LCD display in place of capacitor with same "shiney" buttons (ADD ALL THE BAYS OF THE SHIP THERE, YES CORP, FUEL, DRONES, YO MOMMAH's purse and then some), improve and give some said "immersion"
- is it THAT hard to have a font with dash on zero?
- backlog is simmilar to "feature blackhole" in agile or whatever you use, take them out of the black hole....

I hope you will look at the time and money spent first removing features no one wanted removed and then having to put them back after the player backlash. Think how much the savings would have been if you had some awareness on how badly you messed up when you turned the core of your game into just a feature called Flying In Space.

And exactly why would this be a bad idea? You can skip it, it still takes a few seconds for things to initialize with the servers and a jerky pause plus a loading bar. Why not just add some tug ships and at least show them pulling your ship in while things load. No need for a long, drawn out docking animation, just something that improves immersion a bit.

Besides, how hard would it be to add to the game with a skip button? What's not to like?
