Ship interiors?

So how do you feel about having a view of your ship's interior through the lens of your favourite camera drone?

I think it could start with the ship docked. If it works fine, then take it to space. Note that I'm not talking about a cockpit functionality, I'm talking of seeing the main bridge from a drone.

Once in space, assign the functionality to the view button already on the UI so you can switch back quick and not interfere while you're in combat.

One should be able to walk with avatar around interior while docked and perhaps, invite other players who are around the station.

Imagine the magninficence of a Gallente, Minmatar, Amarr of Caldari capital ship bridge. Frigates or shuttles would just have a small viewing area I guess.

Whilst the Incarna idea was implemented to walk in stations, perhaps it could have served a better purpose if it was implemented to walk INSIDE ships. But that would have been a monumental task if we consider that CCP only delivered a small portion of the initial goal.

Ship interiors should be WAY down on the list. Like "after fixing stuff that's been broken for years".

edit -- not that I'm against the idea (so long as you don't try breaking lore ... ), I just don't want to see CCP spend loads of time on something that many players might not even care about... (see: Incarna, monocle, and $1000 jeans as references)

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

I want an hot tub equipped with exotic dancers for the bridge of my Hulk. And a wireless connection from me to the ship so I can still fly it while in said hot tub.

Eye candy is nice, adds enjoyment to the game for many players. An example is the new nebulae. But if the content is too expensive (read too much developer time) there will be resistance to having it done.

Now if there was game play content in walking in ships, then it would be worthy of more developer time.

Also: No matter how much fixing is done to eve, there will always be someone, somewhere, who claims it is broken.

I know this feature will likely never see the light of day. But I would have prefer ship interiors to a Captain Quarter in regards to gameplay. Also, don't think is Lorebreaking. I am currently reading the Empyrean Age, and I asume most ships had human crews and drones looking over them. Surely a Dev somewhere had this idea once.

i agree. maybe have other players able to walk in your ship while you fly it from the Pod. just keep the players in another game layer so you don't have to mess with stargate mechanics.

Ship interiors should be on top of the list of things to do with Incarna 2.0

A very... very.... very long list...

+1

Eve is about Capital ships, WiS, Boobs, PI and Isk!

Keep in mind that the books (Empyrean Age, Burning Crusade, and Templar One) primarily are from the perspectives of non-capsuleers. IIRC, there are only two capsuleers that are actually part of the story (Korvin Lears, and the other Gallente pilot who both get podded when fighting the Caldari), and they're not really all that involved in the story ... compared to the crew of that frigate (the name escapes me right now... )

Ship interiors should not be on the list. Period.

Captain's quarters should never have come about. No reason to waste DEV time on things that not only don't affect the game or make it more fun to play. Not to mention the lag this would cause, having to have all kinds of ship interiors loading and a fight at the same time, etc.

Ewww, ship guts.

The whole point of being a pod pilot is you *become the ship*. This is what gives us such a huge advantage over the conventionally crewed ships run by most factions.

I believe all ships in EVE are manfactured for Humans, and capsuleers alike. Meaning all have crew "bridges", as the new rookie ships will display:

A camera drone inside that bridge will provide a new perspective to the game, and one can check vitals, shields etc..from the panels inside, if one wishes to., and perhaps perform actions that could not be done with exterior camera drones, to give a purpose to that Bridge drone.
