When you implemented CQ, the official reason for why small ships are dynamically being moved closer to the runway, was that people couldn't see all the detail of said ships otherwise. Now that ship spinning is back and we can look at those ships from all sides and can zoom in as much as we want, can we expect a different behavior in CQ mode? The advantage of the 3rd person view is being able to get a sense of scale... but as it is, this is not possible. There are two ways of achieving this: The simple one is placing them all at the same spot. The superior one would be placing them all right next to the runway in such a way that the hull is always the same distance away and extending the runway so that we can walk the length of the ship... in other words: Having a ship that's actually docked and not just floating around somewhere.

As it stands, they float and slowly rotate around from the view on the balcony ... I suppose when they have time they should add the ability to walk alongside the ship like that, though... and of course stop it from rotating. But as it stands, there's lots better uses of their time than adding WiS content, like rebalancing nullsec or hybrids or what have you.

Just to know : Could we have simply a "Enter Incarna" Button while docked rather than a game option preference ?

Read the Blog. It says it won't be a game option preference. It'll presumably be an interface button, as yet hidden, if the screen shots are an indication (maybe it's currently a right-click option..?).

Thankyou, CCP, for acknowledging your players' concerns. I will actually end up using CQ more now that it's optional, as opposed to having it switched off permanently.

Can you please make sure that these new old features are available on Singularity, and not deployed to Tranquility until the game-breakingly bad problems are ironed out? The Cyrillic users have their concerns with the font, I'm sure many people will end up having problems with the updated lighting model, and let's hope that the new cyno effect won't load down GPUs more than CQ does. Or is that being too optimistic?

I'll echo Seleene's sentiment here: the new cyno should be nothing short of space-bendingly, skull-smashingly violent. Even something like the jump animations in Freespace would be pretty cool.

Thankyou, CCP t0rfifrans, for a well written blog!

As someone who only ever plays on a craptop, I applaud the introduction of these new old features Lol

I think this is one of those times where we need to pay more attention to what CCP do and less what they say.

Whoah, I wasn't expecting such a positive feedback. We are simply fixing some things that we broke so that we can move forward. Tbh we've had our head somewhat placed in the lowermost segment of the large intestine and are finally coming out for air.

Anyway, in regards to questions for a boarding animation, given how a dramatic event that is, you can always go and watch this, which we made a while ago. It was supposed to underscore how painful and nasty it is for a capsuleer to emerge from his pod and be nothing but a vulnerable weak piece of clonemeat.

We opted for no cut scene ingame, simply because it happens so often. Way back in beta we had this beautiful 2001-esque docking sequence, every time you wanted to dock with a station. Ofc, after docking a few times, it became tedious as hell, so we decided to sacrifice immersion on the altar of usability. Same applies for a pod-exit cut scene.

The screenshots didn't show the exact buttons you use to board and unboard your ship, they will be placed close to the undock button on your neocom most likely.

It may take a couple of weeks for these changes to hit Singularity. I can't make promises on the exact date at the moment. But in any case, they are live on what we refer to as "MAIN", which is the internal development branch, and what we see internally when we fetch latest code. So, in typical programmer-speak: "It works on my machine!".

In regards to the Cyno effect, it's not an exact copy of the old effect, it's still supposed to communicate the hadron-tearing disruption of the time space continuum being violated. Or something along those lines. Let's see what people think once it's on Singularity, and we'll take it from there.

I noticed the Opux Luxury Yacht - that looks good! Looks like an enclosed garden on top!

I wonder if / when that will be coming out?

You might be underestimating just how long and how much we've wanted to see CCP making these kind of changes. Its been a long and uncomfortable summer for EVE fans.

Well said TBH.

I think the reaction here is mostly just surprise that CCP is, to paraphrase you, extracting its cranium from its lower intestines. Surprise, and great enthusiasm.

Here's to the end of :18months:

I guess the CSM "emergency" summit didn't get the point across after all.

Its a rare ship that has been in game for a looong time. Unless CCP are planning some sort of re-issue (a christmas present like the Echelon/Primae?) I wouldn't expect to see one any time soon.

I would like to point out you are characterising all Capsuleers by one point of view which is that getting out of your capsule is just something they dont want to do really ever. Yet in actual fact theres highly likely to be those who actually do still like to get out walk around and baseline. And no doubt some white knights who do not want to lose their sense of mortality.

Apart from that thank you, thank you, thank you for bringing back ship spinning. I now dont have to look at that door anymore. which to be honest was the middle finger when you have so many other pretty pictures you guys could have chosen instead.

I'm blown away by how awesome these changes are. Pretty much everything I wanted from CCP in one devblog.

To all the people who say returning what they took away isn't praiseworthy I'd point out - It's not just what we're getting back it's the fact we're getting it because they listened to us.

I've had CQ turned off almost since it arrived but when the hangar makes it back to Tranquility I'll buy some monocles Big smile

we will be reverting the change so that turret icons use the original custom drawn icons, rather than 3d renders of the turrets themselves.

Will they be staying, or will they be 'redesigned' again? Please say they are staying.

Will these buttons be placed as dangerously close together as the Clone [Jump][Destroy] buttons in the current TQ/SiSi builds?
