Daytripping lowsec. A consequential benefit?

I waxed lyrically recently about PI in lowsec yadda ya and I see many posts regarding low lowsec populations etc. I was inclined to draw the conclusion that lowsec is unfixable, aka broken.

But then I started daytripping. No, not acid drops at breakfast, lowsec cavorting. Fast POS setups have made this sooooo much easier and I realised I'm doing it more and more.

A small POS takes only 7 minutes to put up and easily fits inside a nice Mastodon or similar. I take enough fuel blocks to start it up, setup a ship maint' bay, fit a small frig, light a cyno and jump in the carrier with my fuel and ships for the day. Carrier brings a few hours of stront and I spend a wee while putting a few reps on the tower - JIC.

30-40 minutes in and I'm mining/anomming/sigging or whatever it is that suits my fancy. And I'm a self-confessed carebear!

At the end of the day, jump the carrier back to "base", decamp the tower and log the BR.

And the WORST thing that can happen - the WORST thing - I might lose a small tower worth a few million if I get reo'd before decamp.

Ultimately, I know it's nothing new and as sure as eggs are eggs, training JC5 will just bring some nullspace into carbear range too.

So why isn't lowsec/0.0 skirts more populated now?

Carebears not inventive enough?

Because the risk just isn't worth the reward. Unless there are massive clusters of ABC ore in lowsec that i'm not aware of, nobody is going to go to lowsec just to mine. Anyone with enough experience and a tough enough ship to venture into lowsec to rat can probably do just as well in null, for better bounties.

In addition, very few new players have access to a carrier, POS tower and mastodon. You're talking a billion isk investment and several months skill training for less rewards than you'll get running highsec incursions.

I live in null. I go to lowsec when I want to find a fight, because that's all its really good for to me.

Nice idea and good luck if you enjoy it

but

remember that lowsec is full of tards who spend all day looking for imaginary solo hulks or battleships in belts. 

I dont normally troll, but when i do i do it on General Discussion.

sshhh, if the highsec people find out that low/null isnt so bad, it might cause a lot of suicides.

You cant just shake apart someone's entire worldview like that, it can be devastating

Low/Null, for the record, is a brutal hellhole from which nothing escapes. Once you enter Nullsec you may as well give the pirates your account info

Why you carebearing in lowsec? Thats a silly idea you silly carebear.

Everyone knows all you do in lowsec is a hulltanked cruiser rush through lowsec with a decently sized blob and see who comes out alive at the end of a 50 jump pipe.

Low sec isn't bad at all, it is getting to null or high from low that sucks. Otherwise, besides getting chased out of the occasional anomaly, it isn't much different.

Risk v reward? Not so sure anymore. Seems low might have been buffed a little? Someone else said similar other day. (Anyone confirm?)

Just after I did 2 forlorn dens (anoms) I scanned down a Sansha War Supply plex (6/10) which for a .04 system is pretty damned good.

Yeah start doing this on a daily basis and watch what happens when you light that cyno and you get redropped by whoever and your small tower, cap and everything goes poof.

You might get away with this here and there but on a daily basis or regular basis your gonna get so redropped.
