Rev. Lasers = click and forget. It's not as if there are any uses for dreads other than pos bashing those days.P

Dreadnaughts are used?

Or well, I guess they can be used in wormholes for capital escalations. In that case I would say Rev/Moros.

There is supposedly a Dread buff coming in the winter. Your guess is as good as anyone's (apart from the devs) which dread will come out on top.

If you only want to train for one it would probably be worth waiting to see what the changes are, or if they materialise at all.

Not an opinion directly to op's post since I have no experience with dreads other than watching them do the job...

Moros was one of the whole Gallente ships that pleased me at the begining, Megathron > Moros > Nyx was my training objective but since then I've puted over 8M sp in hybrids less than 1/5th of that sp in projectiles and the conclusion is hard but seems right:

Moros looks fine -even if at the first look it's more like some old shoe than a starship looking- but is still horrible when I look at KM's even in pos bashing compared with Minmatar or Amarr version just like almost every Gallente hull in their supposed niche, they have the potential but are broken for a lot of small irritating stuff so; I'll not loose time on training for moros while I'll probably train the nyx has the ultimate ship skill training for it's look has for the ship's fight capabilities.

If I ask myself in what stuff I can have fun, dreads are certainly not on the top of the list after mining ships seconded with logistic ships...

Eh? I've seen Moros at or near the top of POS KMs most of the time. The Moros also has the most flexible drone bay and has room for defensive drones(even though the most common defensive scenario is a super dropping on you to instapop you)

Also Moros is the only dread that can be used to grind sanctums, besides it has 2x better drone bonuses then a domi has ... P

An extra big drone bay is useless, you only need to be able to deploy sentries, everything else should be taken care of by your fleet around you.

Remember, when sieging a POS that you are about 30km away from it or more, so you have to have the highest applied DPS you can. Blaster Moros is pretty good for that, as is the Rev. the biggest plus about the rev is it's crystals. Load up MF and standard at a pinch, then load up with stront for the rest of your cargo bay. Other dreads have to have room for ammo.

If you shield tank a Moros, generally you will have the highest DPS out of any dread. But if armour tanking, then a Nag is the best to have in terms of DPS.

Definitely the nyx. That said the aeon is a pretty decent dread too. Once upon a time the rev and moros were the best but then CCP decided to obsolete them by turning motherships into super dreads instead of super carriers. So, yeah.Roll

Use the Revelation, go AFK during your POS shot without having to worry about reloading your guns.

Was surprised it took so many responses before this came up.

You could've posted that in a mothership thread two years back tho. "Which mothership is best and why" - and the reply would've been Moros.

I find this concept to be disturbing.

Eventually I'll train a Rev. in the hopes that a Dread Buff is coming. I'm all about sustained DPS and lazors do that in spades!

depends on what ur using them for, imo is as follows:

to shoot POS:

1) Rev (as u dont need to reload)
2) any of the others

to use in hotdropping/ganking solo supers (in conjunction with supers if u dont have a super)

1) naglfar (highest dps of all the dreads)
2) rev (fire and forget)
3 & 4) Moros or Phoenix

Dread bombs (60 second ganks using only dreads to kill a silly aggro'ing capital ship on station)

1) nag (highest dps)
2) Rev (fire and forget)
3) both Moros and Phoenix have draw backs here, moros due to the fact u need to waste time launching drones, phoenix due to the fact the missiles have to travel)

p.s,

the Nag is the best dread cus it fookin sexy as hell and as the chaps above say its

As Etoche has touched on it fairly well already, I would just add that in my opinion, the Phoenix is the best all-around Dreadnought. You're capable of switching damage types, the tank is fairly decent, has an exceptional range and isn't entirely as long to train for as the other Dreadnoughts. Personally I have seen the Phoenix on the top of POS bash killmails consistently and I think the positive aspects support this claim.

The only real downsides to this ship would be the time "lost" between volleys and reloading and if your corporation or alliance has a preference to tanking armor or shields. Against capital targets or POSes and Modules, you'll always get in plenty of hits unless there is a large Super Capital contingent.

The Phoenix is a top damage dealer, but has fitting issues. I can't comment on the Nagflar.

The Phoenix and Nagflar both suffer from using Citadel missiles though, with ridiculously low velocity (huge travel time) and low explosion velocity. Don't try to hit anything moving! At least Reve / Moros can fit tracking modules.

Reloading isn't a big issue (unless there is massive lag), though I do agree citadel launchers should hold more missiles.
