Trade Bots

Ok, so the other day i petitioned an obvious trade bot in my trading station.

My response from CCP was less than helpful and they closed the petition without anything being accomplished.

They asked to find the name of the person using the bot.
I basically told this isn't my job, and i don't get paid for doing so, if they provided the ISK to purchase the goods being sold by the player using the Bot, then i would be happy to help.
Currently as far as i am aware this is the only way to see who you are trading against, is to buy there items (correct me if i'm wrong please)

Currently i'm dealing with ships as my main trade, and obviously requires more investment to find the player bot.

My suggestion is,

Add the players name to the market window for each order, so that we can better detect people that are obviously using bots.

If you support this please post on this thread.

if you want to post saying nothing will be done about, it your prob right, but don't say what we are all thinking,
all it does it leave us with a thread full of crap

You are correct.

This is one of the reasons I've always been negative about the "anonymous" market. It not only squanders individual buying power, for those who wish to exercise it, but it allows for anonymous abuse that can only be speculated but never investigated.

It's a catch 22 that benefits the bot traders and benefits CCP - by not having to actually deal with the problem.

Been trading over 5 years in the same market, and like any dedicated trader you know your market also, have you ever wondered why its easier to trade just after a patch for about 1 week.

this is because mass temp bans get given out for macro users, but this not a permanent solution only a setback for the average bot user

also, regardless if its obvious or not, there is bots in every hub, and we need a better way to detect them

The question still stands.

It's not about banning it's about bots breaking with updates, followed by speculation that the Eve client has some new security mechanism to detect and ban bots which makes some bot users reticent to return immediately.

Obvious bot behaviour is where you see the buy and sell order for a character updated in the same second, I can't imagine any way to do this in the client.

I'd be happy to sink isk into it, if I had even the slightest clue on how to detect a bot. Even if I knew the name of the trader I have no idea how I could make sure it's a bot.

Are you serious?

My biggest income is from the botting traders. Please dont remove them. A bot is stupid, normal players are smsrt and know the way how to make a profit from those stupid bot programs.

If you dont know hw to make a profit from a botted trader, you should go back to non pvp activities, try velator mining (dont mine to cans)

Ive heard many say manipulating others trading bots are an opportunity for profit. But I have yet to figure out how. The method I start with:

Assume the bot is setting buy orders. Set you own with a relatively big price jump, want a sec for the bot to follow, then fill its order.

But that assumes I have an item to fill its order with, one I acquired at a price below what I can trick the bot into setting. How did I get that item? It cannot be by having my own buy order filled, the problem I'm having is I cannot get a buy order filled because the bot keeps jumping it. It cannot be from a sell order because even after pushing up the bot its buy will still be below the lowest sell.

On top of that, if I had the item, why would I use it to fill the bot's order rather than just setting my own sell order for more isk?

How is this supposed to work?

I always presumed the trade bots were the ones that will faithfully .01 isk your order, no matter how low you go. Then you can buy up their entire stock and relist at just about equilibrium price.

If a bot/player is too aggressive in undercutting, you can bait their sell orders down a few % and then buy them out. This, of course, carries some risk.

If you want to loose money you buy their sell orders, if you want their money you need to fullfill their buy orders, bots have some default settingsbto overcut, for example max 10%

I don't know what botting software people are using. I know that it is very easy to take money from a botted toon since the bot is not AI, it is just some software with default settings

just found it funny you support the privet market aspect, and then point out a key feature of one of the bots lol
