Factional Warfare.... just a quick hint for CCP.

Just signed up Abyss Alliance to Gallente (Was I the first to join?) and went to the Militia tab to mooch at the changes to the tab now alliances can join....

I obviously don't pay attention to it ofen but I noticed the last "News" item listed was from July 2010. If CCP really do want to 'appear' to be improving and working on FW then they really should either do away with the 'News' or at least make more of an effort to add more stories. Kind of sad seeing year old news being the top item.

Cheers.

Same could be said about the "in testing" page of the eve main site. You either do upkeep or you don't show something.

There is a distinct lack of actual content within the EVE universe, we need more stuff to do, grinding asteroid belts or NPCs for hours just doesn't cut it for a real sandbox.

"don't get us wrong, we don't want to screw new players, on the contrary. The core problem here is that tech 1 frigates and cruisers should be appealing enough to be viable platforms in both PvE and PvP."   - CCP Ytterbium

July 2010 is 19 months ago and IIRC the news item was about something which actually happened in April 2010. So get it right, it's near enough two years P

The Militia news is as relevant and timely as the "News from Eve" nonsense that is on the index page of www.eveonline.com

CCP used to have a good network of people (players) who wrote news stories. The stories got published quickly enough to be relevant.

Drama ensued and forum moderation levels (and costs I presume) increased. Edit - IIRC some american moron actually tried to sue for libel.

tl;dr player "news" in Eve is largely worthless these days as anything decent will spark flamewars. Edit - and moronic fuckwit lawyers.

I find that there is more content than any human can handle in 20 years.

Nice chart, but it repeats itself a lot and mainly seems to involve being a **** to people or doing stuff which I know is broken like tech 2 invention and I'd really like to do tech 2 invention but they need to fix public labs :(

There are things happening all around new eden all the time. The problem lies with the fact that they don't get enough exposure.

The one good thing that CCP did with incarna is trying to augment the feeling of stuff happening was the screen that sent updates of sov changes, new pilots and incursions, a small detail but looking at the screen you got the idea that stuff was flowing.

Updating the different news-items, timelines, etc should be a job for people like CCP Abraxes and CCP Dropbear and others. part of the updates can be automated just like the sov changes where on the screen. Part of it human input.

On a related note, I logged into the test server yesterday.
The character I was using had an out of date medical clone.
I noticed it because a notice specific to my character came up on the main view screen in my CQ that said it was interupting my broadcast to notify me that I had an out of date clone.

I rather like that... a very useful, practical application for that screen.
