A short rant on cloaking

It seems in my opinion afk cloaking has become too risk free of an activity in eve. I suggest one of the following options to try to curb this:
1) Introduce something similar to the burnout feature of the rorqual invulnerability mechanism, such as 20% burn out risk per every 30 minutes the cloak is active.
2) Command burst type of script that must be loaded into the cloak
3) Use of fuel blocks or water components for cloaking mechanism, like the fuel for carriers.

For what it is worth I can respect someone who is active and hunting in a star system, for that takes skills. I just don't think that one should be able to sit all day in one not doing anything cloaked up in open space with minimal risk. The above mentioned ideas are also types of mechanics already in the game and would not take much to actually implement.

If you did take the time to read through this I thank you for your time and consideration. Please bump this idea if you think it is good, or if you can improve on it.

Dear OP, perhaps if you can explain to CCP how an afk cloaked ship can harm you, they may be more inclined to take the supposed problem seriously.

This is not a signature.

Yet another entitled nul sec player whining about a little risk, when will it end. I guess having the safest space in EvE to play in is not enough so you have to argue for the removal of one of the few risks you still face. And people complain about the carebears in high sec and how they are so risk averse.

I like how this is stated as if it's some big revelation that has just recently come to light by this one person.

Even when I was in null sec, what was it 7-8 years ago people were complaining about this very thing. Step in line son.

Honestly, the reason CCP is not doing anything about this is because it's not a big deal. Get better intel; lock down your gates better; rat in pairs. Null sec is supposed to be as risky as you make it. There are places safer than high sec but that's through hard work and effort.
You honestly think that cloaky ship is sitting at their computer all day long? It's part of the strategy to get in your head. Clearly it works, judging by the number of these threads.
Just be glad they haven't brought in WH-style local chat ;)

AFK cloaked ship can become active any time and start hunting, hence the existence of an AFK cloaked ship that cant be found and rooted out is a deterrent on financial activities. Now thats fine and all but it is a game mechanic without any counter.

Best counter would be some sort of 'depth charge' module that gives a weak signature that can be probed, maybe the longer the ship is cloaked the stronger the signature it will cause and the first 15minutes maybe no signature at all. It would be a group effort to root out an afk cloaker, making it a tactical decision if it is worth it, so 'Joe' can go back to pve. This still gives a cloaked hunter plenty of time and space to act, but removes the 'I sit here for days on and get that one carebear kill".

BTW I love cloaked ships, especially bombers, and have done the AFK cloaking as well, but lets be honest its a cheesy ass tactic that needs a counter...

Cloaked ships especially those who are AFK are a counter / risk provider to the insanely risk free activities for those who call nul sec home. As a counter / risk provider to those risk averse players who call nul sec home no counter for AFK cloaking is needed.

Why yes I do have characters in nul sec, and yes that area of space is safe to a level that is not reasonable and probably not good for the game. I have not lost a ship during PvE activities in nul in more than a year. My high sec character that gets less than half as much game time has lost 4 ships in the same period to gankers simply because I choose the wrong gate at the wrong time.
