Not sure how half baked this idea is but...

The ability to call pos "artillery" style shots in onto a remote grid by using a ship with a target painter and a Manned POS.

Maximum "call in range" would be something like 5-10 AU (skill based) and local POS defense would be inactive during "Artillery" mode (Shields still up but no guns active on grid)

5-10 minute activation time to engage/disengage "artillery mode" to make some risk to the pos to use the mode

Very Low Rate of Fire for Guns i.e. 4 rounds per min per gun. (maybe a new pos module for this type of fire)

Travel time for shots (i.e. warp equivalent duration from shot fired to shot hit)

Unique characteristics for each weapon type i.e. missiles chase/hit target, lasers have 1/2 time to target, artillery has AOE of like 5km, rails do faster time to target+small aoe (or something)

This type of fire would be: useless on frigates (unless they hold completely still), nearly useless on cruisers, somewhat effective for battleships, a threat to capital ships, destructive to other POS and Station Services. All based on sig radius speed of travel etc.
