il tell you what i was once to when i complained.

ok so the server is down its been down for 2 hours, yes and an extra 25 minutes yesterday and the 30 minutes extra last wednesday. its approximatly £15 pounds a month to play thats 50pence for a day that 2 pence per hour

send me you bank details and il send you the 6 pence myself you tight arse!

stopped me complaining instantly.

Here's a math for you smart boy:

6 pence X 50k players = 3000 pounds.

Please be so kind as to send me this amount asap or let CCP know to start compensating players for this kind of stuff. I'm sick and tired of these delays each patch and expansion.

Also should i tell you how much is it goes to their pocket entirely for free when server is in downtime? Calculate electricity, bandwidth and all the rest. May be when they will be forced to compensate their customers for their own f***ups they will be much faster in server upkeep.

Edit: Last part.

Don't let them fly safe!

Oh hey, btw boot.ini only effected Windows XP and Windows 2000 there is no "Run as Administrator" on it so good luck with that.

maybe you just have never used a non-admin account on Windows xp or 2000?

runas.exe must be an illusion on 2000 & xp

it can't possibly be real (the SHIFT+Right Click still works in Windows 7 btw, try it if you don't believe Microsoft)

exactly; i just showed the idiot in a thread way above.

You would think CCP would have some kind of deployment test server, that they use to test the deployment of patches, in order to avoid these embarrassing mistakes.

TQ is a fairly gigantic cluster. It would be very expensive to have an identical duplicate next to it for deployment testing and there could still be unexpected issues cropping up...

Obviously they test using SiSi and internal test servers but that's just not the same.

A clear drawback of the massive single shard system CCP runs, but most of the time it works anyway.

When it doesn't, we get nice long threads of bad posts, like this thread. So win either way.

Lots of people complaining about the date format.

There's a simpler solution. Make the format a option, let people choose how they want their date displayed

You're joking, right? You're going to tell me, that they use MSSQL Server on Windows 2000 instead of a cratfed-to-the-purpose distributed database? C'mon.

Or - stop. You're right! Blink

But it really doesn't matter what OS, if they used GIT or SVN or whatever. It's about the processes. Twisted

Here's a math for you smart boy:

6 pence X 50k players = 3000 pounds.

Please be so kind as to send me this amount asap or let CCP know to start compensating players for this kind of stuff. I'm sick and tired of these delays each patch and expansion.

It's 3000 pounds you math genius, go play wow if you're so dissatisfied.

Sure they can start compensation you when they start charging for these free expansion.... sounds good?

so here's some maths

Blizzard charge £40 for a expansion when it comes out.
50k Player X £40 = 2million GBP - £6000 for delays would mean they would earn 1.994 Million profit.

Good approach. Been there, seen that. Just imagine I sent you a chatlog with "12/03/04 > ..." and you replied with "2012:05:06". You get the idea.

A single format might be something to get familiar with, but is less hassle in the long run. That's why smart people bothered with defining ISO 8601.

There's more such subtle things, btw, I am happy experienced people take care of for me (charsets, localization with all its exceptions, ...).

What type of date format is that? Why don't you stick to ISO if you have an international game? I really recommend you to check the different standards for calendar dates, for beginners this is sufficient:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calendar_date

^ This. Half of the world will get confused by your en-US date formatting.

Please note, that the "normal" US/EN citizen, is using AM/PM, whereas the mititary, are using standard UTC...
So much for the usability and comprehension of said ISO TC.

I agree to the DD/MM/YY(YY) standard.
Day changes daily, month, monthly, and year, yearly... Want to see the biggest change first...

The new NAMING is BULLSHIT, again, something not thought through, not only it messes up everything, the names are picked random at best,

BULLSHIT!

...as usual -.-
