Actually, YYYY:MM:DD is the best since it retains date order after being sorted by simple algorithm that only looks at character codes. Very handy for naming files and directories or any other items that are likely to be sorted by name.

YYYY:DD:MM is the abomination with no sense or purpose. Is this some kind of local Icelandic tradition to write dates like that? Because European is DD:MM:YYYY and American is MM:DD:YYYY as far as i know.

Either CCP is being fearless again (Meaning slowly advancing by plowing through waist deep snowbanks, when there is a clear and easy path going the same way a short distance to the side.) or they fudged the patch notes.

How dare you reduce the quality of my High Quality Screenshots! I WANT uncompressed bitmaps.

Ever heard of lossless compression? PNG is a superior format to BMP in every way.

For saving space on a disk, yeah, PNG may be better. But once the graphic is loaded into memory, EVERYTHING is raw data (BMP format, minus disk header info). So, NO, PNG isn't superior in every way because you have to take the time to decompress it in memory before it is displayed....:P

Just like the new font...They were too LAZY to allow us to keep the old, use new or some other fonts....

ORLY? Go ahead, you design an international font that supports several RADICALLY different character sets and let me know how it went. Also, readability improved by leaps and bounds with the new font and that's not an opinion, it's fact.

And yes, I have designed fonts for international customers. Also, Russian, German, Icelandic, American, etc are easy compared to Chinese and Arabic character sets.

CCP can do it, they just take the QUICK way out of things. Cost vs Time....If they ever want to be a draw in bigger crowds, they'll learn that sometimes little things can make a HUGH difference.

Then this **** happens. Experimental, limited and prototype MWD? Make them all prototype I say!
"Quad LiF Fueled Booster Rockets" => "Prototype 100MN MicroWarpdrive I"
"Y-T8 Overcharged Hydrocarbon Microwarpdrive" => "Experimental 10MN MicroWarpdrive I"
"Catalyzed Cold-Gas Arcjet Thrusters" => "Limited 1MN MicroWarpdrive I"

And the awkward one.
"Phased Monopropellant I Hydrazine Boosters" => "Upgraded 1MN Microwarpdrive I"

If the point was to make is simpler to search for the correct modules in the market, what's the reason behind these names?

Sarmatiko wrote:
Meta 1 - Upgraded
Meta 2 - Limited
Meta 3 - Experimental
Meta 4 - Prototype

Named by rarity I think.

Well, seems Sarmatiko is right. I never noticed the MWDs have all different Meta levels.

The real question is: WHY do they have different Meta levels if they all (except for hydrazine) provide the same bonus? It would have been a lot less confusing just adjusting their meta levels to be in line with the AB modules to keep the naming less confusing... -.-

I was expecting a fix on the overview showing wrong distances to ships especially when jumping into a gang and trying to take distance. Maybe its fixed without making it to patch notes ?

Good catch. There is mistake in patch notes.
In the game date format [YYYY]-[MM]-[DD]

Also there is russian localization bug in current SiSi client on character skill page (bug report ID 125976).

Hi Sarmatiko,

For your information, when you write a bug report number like you have done here, we cannot read the bug report because its a private report between you and CCP, according to what I have been told by a dev. Could you please paste the bug here? I'm sure others are wondering what the bug was.

Why they rename all the modules i dont know Straight

(a) nerf fittings storage, forcing people to export their fittings to XML
(b) change module names so old fittings can't be imported from XML
(c) ???
(d) Profit!

What type of date format is that? Why don't you stick to ISO if you have an international game? I really recommend you to check the different standards for calendar dates, for beginners this is sufficient:

In order to simplify the naming system in EVE, the following changes have been made to Weapons & Ammunition:

All EM missiles will now have the name ‘Mjolnir’.
All Thermal missiles will now have the name ‘Inferno’.
All Kinetic missiles will now have the name ‘Trauma’.
All Explosive missiles will now have the name ‘Nova’.

Seriously? how much dumbing down do you have to do? Cmon CCP EvE's variety and complexity is what makes it what it is and what we love, if i want a game thats beatable by a 3 yr old i will play farmville.

I'm sorry but the current way that the modules/ammo/guns/implants/boosters and all are "named" are a complete cluster-F.

I've been playin' this game quite a while and unless you have a stellar memory trying to remember what each name is in regards to what you want is almost impossible.

Having to show info on every single module to find the right one for the right circumstance is a huge time sink. I applaud the renaming...

When you use a certain group of modules/ammo/implants a lot, you do memorize the names and become familiar with the nomenclature. You become specialized in those areas. It makes sense that when you go outside your specialization that you have to put more effort into it.

And that helps the new player experience how? I get your point, but you shouldn't have to get a degree in eve module naming 101 in order to figure out what modules and other stuff you want to fit to your ship or your Eve character. The current naming schema makes absolutely no logical sense.

I applaud the renaming; it'll cause a lot less confusion for the new players, and for the old players that just want a quicker way to sift through the module lego box.

Currently, you can find or link every module by it's UNIQUE phrase. "Cold-Gas" for 1MN named AB/MWD, "Y-T8" for 10MN MWD, "Y-S8" for 10MN AB, Mjolnir for EM torps, but Gremlin for EM rockets. It is actually faster to use, once you know what is what.

The word on backward compatibility.

Thousands of players already memorized the nomenclature and wont be to happy about not beeing able to use it again.

Why can't you just add those precious "simplifiers" to the existing nomenclature.
Why can't it be
"1MN Cold-Gas Arcjet Thrusters"
"Mjolnir EMP Torpedo"
"Gremlin EMP Rocket"

That way you'd allow to use the "Unique Keyword" approach, which actually makes a lot of sense, and the "Functional keyword" allowing someone to find his "EMP Torpedo" or "1MN".

/me sends a thesaurus to iceland. A kinetic trauma I get when i drive too fast with bicycle against garage door. a psychological when i sometimes read the patch notes :P . Nova comes from stella nova and describes a nuclear fusion process, ok the explosion might be an result so that is acceptable a bit, but still the word 'new missile' (nova=new) comes to mind lol.

Besides, if you are going to name ALL EXPLOSIVE MISSILES "Nova", why do you need to introduce NEW KEYWORD nomenclature to do that? You might as well just call them "Explosive Heavy Assault Missile" and "Kinetic FOF Cruise Missile" and be done with ALL the nomenclature.

Now you just going from 4 unique keywords per missile class, where each one allowed to search for the particular damage type of a particular class of missile to 4 keywords, one per damage type, which we will need to learn again.

If you want to retain the "sci-fi" style designation, and leave the keywords in there. Then just use the old ones and go like

"Mjolnir EMP Torpedo"
"Gremlin EMP Rocket"

instead of
"Mjolnir Torpedo"
"Mjolnir Rocket"
"Mjolnir Heavy Assault Missile"

Reading the patch notes re: shield modules etc. Does this mean when I enter a ship in space its shields will be fully charged?
