why are skills locked for alpha clones?

I'd feel hypocritical to suggest 'get rich and pay up'. But I can wholeheartedly suggest you to 'git gud', make ISK, and buy PLEXes. Legend says there are people out there who never payed a dime to CCP, and have no problem of sustaining an Omega acc (or more).

But if you feel it's the Alpha-limitations that keep you away from this state, being Omega will not help either.

The real question is if alpha limitations give people the desire to sub. In the case of my friends that I attempt to introduce to the game the answer is a flat out: no. Not one single friend of about 20 has stayed longer than a couple days in eve.

What were their issues with EVE? What were their expectations, when they started playing?

Remove standings and insurance.

i understand that battle ships and carriers are locked and playing with a navy cruiser is fine but why when my omega runs out all of my omega skills get locked? atleast let me keep those skills that i have already trained and why is it seperate in the first place it only leads to frustration if you fight an omega as an alpha and you both have the same ship the omega will always win becuase he does like 10% more damage or has 5% more shield or better drones why arent just the ships locked but all the skills are accesible and why lock my skills lets say ive been playing since 2008 im not but just for example i left the game for 1 year and now i come back only to find all my stuff locked behind a paywall if you payed for 1 year thats more than 100$ why dont you get permanent omega you already paid ccp enough and alot of people probaly wont reach this point

because alpha clones are useless ?

The hamsters need to be fed somehow. Have you tried paying for your subscription with RL moneys on a plan? It's a lot less effort than making enough ISK to PLEX.
Half a day of shifting stuff in a warehouse pays for three months of EVE omega time, leaving the other 4 1/2 days of income free to pay for all my other expensive hobbies.

EVE is comparatively cheap. It's not like you're playing Warhammer 40K or other forms of plastic crack.

This kind of thinking is what is wrong with the world.

"This bank surly has more money than they need, I think I shall make a withdrawal, at night, by force."

"Surely this elderly women has more purses than she needs, I think I shall do her a favor and take this one, by force."

Extremes but they get my point across.

Thank you for pointing this out.

A couple days is not enough time for Alpha vs Omega to make any difference whatsoever. They quit with, what, 580,000 skill points after a couple days instead of the 585,000-ish they would have had as an Omega after a couple days? A couple days isn't even enough time to expire a pre-Alpha buddy link trial.

Who the hell do you think you are to determine what price people charge for their labor? Are you really complaining about how CCP is gracious enough to allow you to continue playing for free? If being a free to play alpha is too hard for you sub, or go back to WOW ya commie.

i understand that ccp needs to make money but and im no expert they must be making alot more than they actually need it just feels like its a tiny bit pay to win as an alpha clone is no match for an omega one and wont it give new players a bad expirience to get rekt without being capable of fighting back with a chance to win

Used to be you could only free trial for ~15 days before having to sub.

Now you can Alpha forever.

The Alpha skill sets are completely adequate to fly the available hulls at good efficiency.

Its not pay to win.
Its pay to play the full content of the game.

TLDR: EVE is a subscription MMO with a restricted free trial.

Lol I payed a while back, and quit because of computer issues and never got around to coming back till alphas came out. When I came back...

. My skills were only slightly better than a alpha. But being an alpha gave me the focus to flush out where I was weak so now I have a much better character. I didn't realize how badly I was missing my core skills.

But I miss all my refine and build skills

I do miss my orca and exhumers...BADLY, battle cruiser...slightly lol

I see nothing wrong with the highlighted statement. The money in that bank is no more theirs than it is yours, so i think it belongs to who ever takes it.
