Need CCP help: Trouble with account creation/payment

Hello. It's not my accounts that need help.

I've talked one of my RL friends into playing EvE. He created an account and can log into account management just fine, however when it comes down to actually purchasing the game he is hitting a road block.

The payment page is not accepting his card. He does have sufficient funds and it is a major credit card, however he keeps getting this error message:

Quote:
"We were unable to authorize your payment at this time. Please ensure you have sufficient funds and/or contact your bank/card issuer for further information."


His bank said they don't see why there is a problem and the culprit is not on their end. CCP please help.

I believe other people have experienced problems with payments recently. As always, your best bet is to raise a petition if you need direct contact from CCP in an efficient manner.

Yeah but I'm not sure how to go about it. My friend is standing right here by the computer. Do I submit a petition ingame with his account and CC info? What can a GM do on that end?

I'd suggest trying this.

Your friend opens the Create Petition page from the EVE Online homepage. If he can login to his account (Should be able to) then do that from that page.

Pick "Billing and Account" as the Category and "Payment Issues" as the sub-category.

Fill in all the details, etc.

Oh, and navigate to the page yourself so you can be sure this isn't an attempt to steal his login details Blink

Just to confirm (as petitions are the way to go), I´m having the same issue.

I did a quick search on Google and this appears to be a recurring problem (Year on year) but may be related to the Credit Card Processing company / timeliness of deposits into an account rather than CCP. (Still reading, so if I find anything else I'll let you know)

But take a peek at this. And this. This one fixed by a GM. Another suggests it may be website load @ CCP.

Oh heck, Google "We were unable to authorize your payment at this time" there are a lot of results Lol

Confirming this is exactly what you should do if you ever have a billing issue.

My friend says he's not comfortable submitting his credit card information through a petition. Any other options? Or is CCP missing out on another customer?

You don't provide your CC details in the petition, you tell CCP there is a billing problem (be very specific about the details) and ask them how to make it work.
