Thats double negative. Cool

It actually means something opposite in spanish to something in english language. Paradox. Every bet is winning and losing simultanously.

It's a stressed negative, something I owe to speaking Catalonian, which as a language is an older cousin of French, which also haves the stressed negative ('no and no').

But sometimes my grammar just gets messed up and I wrote "no trace" instead of "any trace". Big smile

Also: grammatically (in)correct snipe!

As for what I would want to see in EVE, to any CSM representative I can say that it would not bother me much if the devs that are working on Nova would be moved to Iceland to work on EVE assets for WIS Vegas expansion on their spare time. Like they have used the Atlanta teams to do the racial CQs for EVE. EVE deserves all the dev time, as it deserved the redesigned planets and other things Atlanta team used to add to the game.

Obviously I should ask for fashion advice from the cluster renowned LAGL crew!

Also, on the dev issue, I find it humorous that I see the same people clamouring for new PvE, new CQ content and little things fixes. CCP has a relatively limited dev team, I can't help but think that you feel CCP are simply sitting on their hands and not doing anything, despite the reveal of new PvE at Fanfest, and a refocus on the Empires for content after that. Prioritising your demands and sticking with them is fairly important when working with CCP, as one might be able to see from the CSM agreeing collectively last year on wanting more social PvE experiences. Of all the things you've discussed regarding the game DMC for example, if you had to pick one what would it be?

But yes, I've tried to make myself available even on the EvE-O forums - though I tend to stick to the CSM section.

Well, just to put things in context...

You (as the CSM) asked for "more social PvE".

What I do know from my experience is that PvE is essential for SOLO players and most PvE players barely do any social gameplay.

So, how do you think it will fare if CCP tells solo players that they will get more social PvE? Will they rejoice for some content they have no use for (since they don't play social), or will they think, with good reasons, that CCP doesn't haves a clue on who plays PvE and why?

Isnt social PvE for socially able players? For socially inept there is solo PvE correspondingly?

How much do we have socially inept players in EVE? Judging from people reactions, people writing in NPC corporations channels, player corporations are evil. Even able players would be sometimes turned off by those evil corporations talk. The solution would be to make oportunities to socialize doing space stuff without joining any player corporation. Something that would bring people together and make them fight for the same thing. SCOPE network could be redesigned that way, to make automatic events without people comunicating much, but giving them the feel of great things done together.

On a rough estimate, people suck. The absolute worst aspect of playing WoWs it's people. Not just chat trash talk (of which there's little), but the general incompetene, selfishness and stupidity of a neverending string of absolute strangers is the worst part of the game. Even as you may be stuck with them for 20 minutes maximum, the fact that they do everything possible to make your game a disaster, both the enemy team and your own, sometimes gets on your nerves.

And that in a game where loses, albeit harmful, are not wrecking and don't really set you back in your ability to play. I might lose 30 or 40.000 credits with a bad Yamato battle, but on average it's a positive, specially since WG added direct rewards (containers).

Of course, theoretically speaking, in EVE one could find the perfect people and be friends forever and the stuff... but then if I had a sensible chance to achieve that in EVE, I would be doing it in RL, instead of being a loner. Unsurprisingly, my social gameplay experiences in EVE have been disappointing and even harmful, and most of time what I've enjoyed it's been NOT playing wirth people, rather just chit chat, RP or general bullshitting with little impact on my game.

I used to think I was a weirdo for doing this, but in EVE there are lots of people like this. And when they break the radio silence, it's amazing to see that after all EVE is crowded full of misfits who play alone and wouldn't go social for nothing since it would harm their enjoyment of EVE. Of course those people are in a terrible position because CCP doesn't knows them and since Rubicon has been actively working on shafting them, removing the ability to enjoy the game solo in sectors like industry and now, apparently, PvE.

"We make a social MMO", CCP says. But that MMO exists and is where it is thanks to the money of an endless string of lone players... a string that is dwindling and fading, and drags the game along with it, as CCP focuses on "cool" social stuff rather than "meat and potatoes" solo stuff.

Yeah, there are 14,000 citadels in New Eden, hoozaah. But also the PCU has gone down by 2% since Citadel, once normalized for the F2P spike.

Looks like the best EVE CCP makes, the smaller EVE they achieve. It's as if a hidden force, something large and heavy like an elephant, was not being considered in the big scene of development.

What if EVE was being played, on average, as a solo PvE game with a minor presence of social PvP? What if, with their faster churn rate, PvE soloers outnumbered social PvPrs by 6:1 in the overall customer demographic?

Who would be more valuable to retain?

You know it's just rhethorical questions from me. I've been saying the same for literally years. And guess what, the more I say it, the smaller and less influential/relevant EVE becomes. As if -gasp- I wasn't completely wrong...

I have seen this Cherry 2000 film and can say that it was fun. Sometimes over the top effects, but for retro feel 80's film, actually looking like everything is right with it.

People play solo everything that can be played solo. Certainly I wouldn't PvE if it was a multiplayer endeavor (let strangers spoil my precious game time? In EVE? No way! -but that's just me), instead I would mine.

Yet generally speaking, people start playing alone and thus gravitate towards things they can do on their own. There are many reasons (language, psychology, learning, time constraints...) but people who try something that requires social and fail at it will stop trying after some attempts (little if they're like me, a few more if they've got more robust defenses versus negative socialization).

Absolutely not. I will give Shelby 3 billion ISK if the CQ still is present the day EVE shuts down, thus she will vanish into nothingness with 3 billion ISK more. Conversely, if that day there's no CQ, she'll owe me 1 billion ISK. A bet is a bet, all the rest is vanity.
