Hi all iv been thinking about building a Raitaru but I am asking about theses things before I do.

So I know from asking 1 station owner that Raitaru costs 500 mill a month which is easy enough for me to fund just but doing level 4 missions and with a little work I could fund a build of 1.

Anyway the important question for me is do they make isk or are they just a big white elephant that attract war decs because the benefit's have to out way the risk of it being busted and it needs to make more isk than it costs to run it.

If you have an opinion or advice about there's things please share them also how do you fit a Raitaru iv played with fits but again advice would be good on this.

Anyway thanks for any replies and feedback on this as I'm not building one if its not worth doing.

First off, your friend is basing his monthly costs off of something weird. A Raitaru inherently doesn't cost anything per month, it only costs something if you run the service modules with fuel and that fuel costs money.

Beyond that, yes you can make money off of one by charging people based on what they do at your EC. You'd have to ask someone else for a complete list of what is or isn't taxable.

Whether or not your specific EC will make you money, either in total or just some to offset fuel costs, is dependent on who uses it and for what.

You can make as much isk as you wish. Depends how creative you are. I would use it for its tax advantage and manufacture cheaply.

You will never make ISK by charging for use, unless you are in a system with a stupidly high index to begin with.

EC cost varies by service modules active.

Last I checked, I think we had 9x Raitaru using the fuel of 3 large towers, and two unfueled Astrahus (no services). Typically only one service per Raitaru (manufacturing).

EC will only earn ISK if you are using them to manufacture or research, and with several characters / accounts. They are no different than POS in this respect.

Are you doing enough manufacturing that the efficiency savings would add up to as much or more than the fuel costs. Are there any public ECS in your area that offer the bonuses you need.
In which case would the tax savings from having your own offset the fuel costs.

If the answer to both of those questions is yes. Then you should put one up.

If you want to make money off a raiteru, pick a system with a low manufacturing index, and charge a nice lowish tax rate. People should start using it if the cost beats out nearby manufacturing units.
