Allow stealing from Mobile Tractor Unit

Mobile Tractor Unit (MTU) is too good option compared to normal tractor beam. I propose little nerf for MTU.

Mobile Tractor Units should be unlocked containers. Anyone can steal stuff from MTU. In high sec and low sec space stealing from MTU would give you suspect flag. This would make MTU little more difficult and risky option to use and promote normal tractor beams.

Comments are welcome for my idea.

You can already steal from MTUs, you just have to blow them up first, which already gives you a suspect timer. It is not that hard to do, though.

Seriously, just shoot at one, you never know what fun might be had for all.

I just wished the mission runner would shoot at me...

They should allow hacking modules to unlock them, though they should be really hard to crack. Maybe depleting their hit points would make them get progressively easier to pop open with a hacking module.

Or there could be two types: one that can be hacked and one that can't be hacked. Some folks might opt for the hackable can, because it's less likely to get shot to bits. Good if the MTU is somewhat valuable--even if the contents are more valuable, they're going to get the loot anyway. Folks would be willing to go get a hacking module just to crack it open because then they don't have to contend with the loot fairy.

Win-win.

It is not a win-win situation because your system would not generate a killmail. It should be a reminder to the mission runner to pay attention to their surroundings. Each death of a MTU should be a badge of shame for any mission runner.

Unless they don't care, then they can send me a location of their MTU and either Pix or I will remove the offending machine from the cold, empty depths of space.

Reasonable, but sometimes you just want the loot.

Just kill it and take it. They are like a box of chocolate, you never know what's inside.

There is always chocolate in a box of chocolates. A white elephant Christmas gift exchange might be a more appropriate comparison.

No to your idea Op. if you want what is inside then shoot it and see what drops.

You have Jet cans for that, steal or flip. Dont make the entire game a flip coin game.

As others have mentioned, just blow them up, its fun and easy.

This way you can pad your killboard with green, and if you don't bring a cargo scanner along you get the anticipation of whether anything nice will drop or not.

Alternatively if you do bring a cargo scanner, you get the anticipation of whether anything nice will drop or not.

They're actually pretty easy to kill, if memory serves.
