EVE Launcher version 1097946 has the following changes:

  • Fix for a crash bug when cancelling bundle download (presumably on exit)
  • Fix for an invalid default cache path
  • Added more information to crash dumps
  • Logging changes

Try deleting the folder %LOCALAPPDATA%\CCP\EVE\QtWebEngine - let me know if that helps.

After starting launcher I'm getting "Version info not available" message all the time. I've tried to uninstall it and reinstall the latest version - nothing helps.

Did a new install using off line installer still no change.

Can see that in server list on launcher it is downloading updates and is fully functional but just keep getting white screen of death.
Any advice would be great. I dont want to have to do a reformat of hard disk.

Try this:

Click on the E icon, select Settings... Enable Hardware rendering and restart the launcher. Let me know if that helps.

Hey CCP Snorlax

Ok tried that and not change. Will log a bug report and attach log.
Will hold off so that perhaps you can get an answer before I re-format so that this maybe used to assist others if it comes up.

Thanks

OK Bug report sent with log file attached and some screen shots. Your name is in the title.
If you need anything else please let me know so that can help sort this out for others if they get it.

My other computers all work fine except just one.

Before the latest Eve patch I wasn't having any issues. After updating, the launcher no longer starts the eve client. I can log in on the launcher okay, but when I hit play, the white triangle turns to a white square for several seconds and then changes back to a white triangle.

The eve client is never seen in the list of active processes so I'm pretty sure this must be a launcher issue.

What loglite shows during one of these attempts to push play is the following:
handleCommand: "{\"cmd\":\"launcheve\",\"server\":\"tq\",\"token\":\"EDITED"}"
Copying "C:/ProgramData/CCP/EVE/SharedCache//ResFiles/34/34cee7939079398b_3a6e3fd929462ac97a567d7c375378cd" to "C:/ProgramData/CCP/EVE/SharedCache/tq/bin/_trinity_dx9_deploy.dll"
Source file does not exists: C:/ProgramData/CCP/EVE/SharedCache//ResFiles/34/34cee7939079398b_3a6e3fd929462ac97a567d7c375378cd ( C:/ProgramData/CCP/EVE/SharedCache/tq/bin/_trinity_dx9_deploy.dll )

Permissions have been checked, cache has been verified and the launcher has fully patched the client and shows ready. The file is not present at either location.

Launcher: 1097946.1045
Tranquility: 1100814
OS: Windows Vista SP2

UPDATE:
* turning off hardware acceleration removed the "Copying... " and "Source file does not exits:..." lines from the loglite entries for each attempt, but otherwise the behavior remained the same. However, after restarting the launcher, the lines are now there again with each attempt even with the hardware acceleration option turned off.

* turning off system configuration for proxy had no impact on behavior

* seems to be similar to issue reported in https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=500354&find=unread

This is curious, only time I've seen this before then clearing out %LOCALAPPDATA%\CCP\EVE\QtWebEngine resolved the issue. Unfortunately there is nothing in the logs to explain this.

One thing I can think of trying is to change the recently added setting for using system configuration for proxy. Perhaps your proxy setup is confusing the launcher.

If that doesn't help, try switching to the beta version of the launcher - it has some minor changes to networking that might help. To do that, go to settings (from the E menu) and change the version type.

what bothers me for a while already is the overlapping notifications. Can't you move them around a bit? There seems to be enough room to fit everything.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

Thanks for your patience and looking into this.
Changing the Launcher to Version Beta allows me to log in.

Im not sure what the issue is with the actual launcher. Will keep playing around with it to see if I can see what the issue is.

Well no need to format just yet :-)

For those still having issues with the launcher, your best bet is to file a support ticket, attaching your launcher logs. We'll need to see your logs to have a chance of figuring out your issues.

The launcher does not remember which accounts are logged in anymore if you minimize it to the tray and then open it again.

I managed to fix the problem I posted above. The launcher is skipping the "Downloader for Tranquility" step and not downloading files that are missing/corrupt.

First my suggested fix for players, second a full accounting of everything I did and what I observed, for the devs.

Open the launcher, under the E menu, select shared cache.
On the shared cache interface, verify the cache integrity (I had already done this and doesn't fix anything on its own, but you want to make sure you've done this first), it takes some time. Then push the button for 'reset last known build information'.
Fully close the launcher and restart it. This time it should see the files its missing and download them the way it should and fix your problems.

What I noticed in the loglite entries was that the launcher was trying to copy files that didn't' exist, which didn't make sense since it was telling me it was fully patched. So what I tried to do was to copy and rename the file it was looking for from my sisi folder, back into the shared cache, so it had something to find and copy. This worked and revealed the next file it was missing. I had two missing files. Doing this for both allowed the launcher to copy the files it wanted into the tq folder and start the client at which point the client saw these two files as corrupt/modified for obvious reasons. So, I verified the cache again to get rid of them and tried the 'reset last known build information' button which I figured might make the launcher do some sort of recheck of some sort. What I noticed in the loglite logs from before and after this was that before the launcher was skipping the "Downloader for Tranquility" step, but afterwards it did execute that step which allowed it to download the missing files.

Hope this helps some folks.

Thanks for this, this is quite useful.

In the latest beta version of the launcher I've actually removed the Reset button and moved that functionality into the Verify process. I've also fixed one issue that might explain why the launcher gets into this state, and I'm adding more logging and trying to improve error handling.
