So, I run a small corp, living in a c3 with an astra. Originally it was just me and a few alts, running sites, mining and doing some PI. I haven't experienced much in the way of WH pvp yet but am hoping to change that.

With the introduction of alpha clones I've convinced a few RL friends to sign up and join me (they're already in love with the game), and also one or two old FW friends have recently joined as well. So we're hoping to stuck into what WHs are really about, great fights.

The other morning I woke up a few hours before I had to go for work, no-one else online so I just go about scanning out the new sigs and taking care of a little business. A few new wormholes since I logged off the night before, one is a highsec and another is a c4. With alts dotted about various pings I notice there's a few players coming from the C4, moving a few industry ships back and forward between highsec, and just generally dotting around our wormhole.

Then I get a notification: our astra is under attack. Oh sh*t. I'm the only one online and usually AUTZ is a safe time for our astra's vulnerability timer. What do?? It's never been attacked before.

So I dock up and keep an alt watching their c4 as they start to bring through ships, 3 or 4 geddons and a VNI jump in and warp to the citadel. Let the fight begin! It was one of the most fun experiences I've had in a long time! The enemy were remote repping nicely, I was managing to occasionally neut one or two out and bring another to low armor, but couldn't break them! I began killing off their drones in the hope it would lower DPS (especially from the VNI), and then I could neut at least one geddon try and lower their overall DPS a bit. Of course they might have been using projectiles :)

Anyway, the DPS is still hitting me hard, repair is paused at 3 minutes, and one of the lads convos me. He lets me know they're gonna stop attacking, they just wanted to see how it would go and, basically just generate fun content for the hell of it...we agreed it was a fantastic fight and quite nail biting for the both of us.

[ 2016.11.18 08:08:46 ] Haile Korhal > This is our first time attacking! Woo, firsts all around!

We say our goodfights and then:

Haile Korhal > I killed the goony who was taking your farms btw.
safetypin > yea but i was too busy watching you guys come and go lol

The legend killed an evil goonie stealing my relics!

This is maybe a really boring story, especially for you more experienced players/wormholers, but I wanted to share because it was a huge amount of fun, mutual respect, everyone was joking around and there was no smack. And also because I wanted to give a shout out to Haile and his corporation Professional Amateurs for being all round good dudes and proving some great content.

TL;DR There's cool people that play this game? :o

And that, ladies and gents, is how alliances are formed...

But seriously, get into PvP. Best aspect to the game. Whelp a few cruisers and get the blood pumping.

Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person."

As someone who's basically in the same situation (I'm a "mostly" solo player who's now bringing in a few RL friends and forming a small corp with wormholes in mind), I really enjoyed reading this.

Thanks for sharing and good luck out there.

Haha, yea maybe I'll give them a shout and see if they want to do some ops together, good call bud.

I started the game in FW, as did one or two corpies, it was awesome but tbh that's the extent of our pvp experience. And my RL friends that just joined are alphas so I'm thinking cruiser roams are definitely the way to go.

Ah that's awesome man, good luck to you too and thanks. It's wee events like the one I described that make me love this game.

Thanks for the experience, safetypin! We certainly weren't expecting such a fight and we were not disappointed in the slightest. The moment on comms when everyone realized "He's shooting drones! HE'S SHOOTING DRONES!" and the mass panic that seemed to cause. Maybe the next time we bump fleets we'll have another exciting engagement, ;D

I have never regretted moving from Nullsec to J-Space. This kind of story is a good reason why.

Great real EVE story with an amicable end (for now).

But they also could have wiped out your entire operation...

We get this on occassion as well with our newer members and old bittervets like me! It's absolutely great to see this kind of play and everybody just has a grand time and in my opinion, EVERYBODY WON!
