Can't believe a search for emoji returns nothing on the forums o.O

We all love ASCII art. Eve is kind of retrofuturist at this point in terms of text communication, but my fellow CAS members are increasingly frustrated with the lack of emoji support in eve's chatboxes...

I know we can try to do asciiart (I'm looking at you TEST), but without monospace fonts it's harder than it should.

Can we please think about modernizing the font used in game? it's a small thing that may make a lot of people squeal in delight.

I know this is kind of a trivial matter in comparison to HS wardeccing, the Frigate Menace, and all the big topics, but I'm only half joking when I bring that up.

If you google "most commonly used font" and look through a few posts, you'll find that only a couple of the fonts listed on those pages are monospaced. In fact, scrolling through OpenOffice's font list, I see a distinct lack of monospaced fonts.

Monospaced fonts are from the age of typewriters and dot-matrix printers, when the technology couldn't cope with variable spaced fonts. Now that the technology doesn't rely on them, the only reason to use a monospaced font is for ascii pictures. Not everyone likes those, personally I grew out of them before I got out of elementary school.

Also, even if you had monospaced fonts, the simple fact that ascii pictures are dependent on having the correct number of columns in the display field will still keep them from displaying properly. I seriously doubt that I keep either my info window or my chat windows the same size you do, which will still screw up your picture.
