How we put ourselves out there is entirely up to us, of course. You make a good point though: we will definitely have to be serious every now and then. But we don't have to be serious everywhere and all the time.

I would personally argue that being out in a fleet is usually a good time to be serious. Having a bit of fun alongside the merc community on the Eve-forums is perhaps not so much. But opinions differ, of course.

I did read how this is a joke, and tbh i kinda read it that way too. With that said this joke will effect your bottom line and that of your members, since for the average Joe even the hint of deception is enough to put them off you and onto one of the other million new merc alliances.

I don't think anyone will care about a trash thread in C&P it's just a bit of fun. We can be serious when needed. As you say it may effect our bottom line. But, we are just starting and not looking to grow too large. We have no intention of competing with larger merc alliances.( Or dead ones)
