could it be possible for the esc menu to be accessed with a clickable button (from the character sheet or somewhere)?

this at present state discriminates against players without keyboards who want to play full screen -.-

when i ran into this, my specs were: regular pc etc with a mouse, but no keyboard

i just locked an open door.. strange, yet symbolically compelling.

The main thing the client needs:

Speed

Speed

Speed

Speed is life, speed is fun, speed makes the playing experience fluid and enjoyable. You need to go through the code and find all the inefficiencies and speed things up. Everything from the time to check the market, to docking, to loading grid, to just higher FPS with multiple clients and high graphics.

Another thing you can do: Print this out and nail it to the wall above your work area:

The user controls the user's computer

Examples: Go to Jita and look at the market for PLEX or Tritanium. When you do so the entire client locks up for several seconds. Its slow, and the user cannot control the computer.

Dock with CQ on. During the process the client has poor response or none at all. The user cannot control the computer. What should be happening is if the user clicks a neocom button or opens a can or drags an item, the client slows the "loading" process and gives priority to the user's request.

Drag a tab out of chat and the client does a short freeze. Even if the client needs time to do the task, it should not be locking out the user from doing other stuff.

Directx vs Open GL: As a Mac user this is an issue as it lowers fps. A full native client, as nice as it would be, would be alot of work. But could you go part way and make the graphics native? Add Open GL calls to the client and have it use whatever calls are appropriate to the OS its running under? Or maybe just look into emulators other than Cider.

Agree! The white cycle time on my guns and MWD continues to go around for about 1/3 of a circle after the last activation has finished. During that time I'm never sure if clicking them will re-activate the module, or have no effect. Then I click it again and I'm not sure if the second click finally activated it, or actually disabled it a second time. Most upsetting.

Allow me to disable the animated login screen. I already bought the game, I already like it...I don't need a slow 3D screen rendered when I want to log in. Let me turn it off.

In the Assets window: One click should not "expand" the station (with a corresponding delay). Two clicks should do that. Sometimes I just like to left click to set the focus on a window, and the Assets window doesn't have many options to do so without hitting a station.

Setup the client to allow for better threading support, especially as it relates to queries. A query of anything should not make my client stop responding on other things that are unrelated.

I run 4 accounts on the same pc about fourty hours a week - maybe a little more in the winter.

The absolute #1 thing that pisses me off every day is they way the eve client moves to the middle of screen one when you change the GPU a client is run on.

To get four eves to run smoothly on my PC I put each one on a specific GPU & CPU, with much trial and error I have managed to work out which GPU to select for a client on a specific monitor so I get four nice smooth clients with out any juddering.

When I login a new client, I select the GPU for the monitor I want to use and the client jumps to monitor one, which is controleld by a completely different GPU and this drops all my FPS down to 1 on every client untill I manage to fight the client back to the monitor it jumped off of - you know the one that is connected to the GPU I selected.

WHY DOES THE CLIENT JUMP SCREENS TO SCREEN ONE WHEN YOU SELECT A GPU???
It takes me several minuites to get my clients to work at the same time - every day - everytime I login because of this stupid jumping thing.

I have never seen ANY other application or game jump screens in windowed mode when i change graphics settings and I mean EVER. I have petetioned this issue more than once and have received the usual mindless responses from GM's who clearly have no idea what I am talkign about - most may never played eve yet alone multi boxed it.

A big chunk of the community multi box - there should be a lot more testing done by CCP about the issues we face. A recent example of something that went live on tranquility that made it almost impossible to multibox eve that then got patched were overview changes to do with pressing the ctrl & click on a client that didnt have focus (3/4 of mine never have focus).

There is some really silly stuff on SIS atm too that will be live on TQ in 6 days too
- when you press right shift and click on a module it overheats. Does anyone at CCP realise that a bunch of us use and have done for a long time that button for "push to talk" on our out of game comms (teamspeak, vent, mumble, etc). What do you think happened to our fleet of experienced vets who went to do some testing on sisi the other day? When we talked to each other on teamspeak all of our modules turned off from overheat damage in the middle of the fight. Also - none of us could work out what modules or ammo to use because all of a sudden everything is called something totally different.
- minimize your drone window mid fight (now try and get it back) with the new left hand menu
- noone in my corp could work out how to find the test fleet as the fleet button is multiple clicks away hidden in some new menu.
- my carrier showed 9 out of 10 fighters in space but I couldnt launch a 10th one because i had 10 in space - WTF!!!. Reloggig didnt even fix it.
- Whats with the red and yellow boxing - I spent half an hour getting shot with damage notifications without getting red or yellow boxed in local. I couldnt warp because I was scrammed but couldnt tell by who.

There is some nice stuff on sis, some of it a long overdue, like the shield bonuses being applied. The countless hours i have spent repping wyverns every time we change system....... I hope a lot of the bugs are ironed out before whats on SISI hits TQ. From a combat perpective whats on SISI is far less playable than whats on TQ - a lot of the real time info given to pilots that is relied on in combat it broken.

Ooh, I have one!

When you open jet cans, loot containers, wrecks, profession (Radar, Salvager) cans, add a nice "Loading..." text while the client is waiting to find out if it's empty, and a nice "Empty" when the client has confirmed with the server that it is indeed empty.

This.

As a small addition instead of the technical-our-world terms I would prefer to see more "New-Eden-like or let's say rp/lore messages displayed, like for example
"Scanning for loot..."
"Nothing (valuable) found"
(Yeah, needs probably some refining in wording, but I guess you get the point...)

When undocking, I can often issue and execute commands before the scene even loads.

On the stupid animated login screen, I can usually get my password punched in, and have half the game loaded before the stupid 3D animated screen has loaded. At all.

edit: has anyone mentioned brackets yet? Seriously, what's up with brackets? Why are they so bad that fleets have to shut them off in PVP? Why can the client render high detailed 3D scenes easily, while it handles 2D objects like it's 1980?

I'm assuming that's either too many drawcalls, or crappy worldspace->screenspace calculation
and maybe a lack of depth-sorting them before rendering them.

Setting up my quickbar takes longer than necessary. When I want to add, say, tritanium, I need to search for it on the quickbar, right-click on the search result for tritanium, to add it to my quick bar. Right-clicking (as well as left-clicking) a search result does a market query and gives me the current orders. But I don't need the current orders. I just need my right-click menu so I can "add to quickbar" or "show info" or whatever. So if the market query were removed, then using market searches for anything other than viewing orders would go much faster.

Hopefully this is a simple, specific change. One can dream that it would be a one-liner.

I would say work on eve audio in general. I have a mic that I can seem to get working on every game but eve. It sees the mic, its in my settings but no matter what button I assign it etc. No one can hear me talk. I have this problem on both my computers... I need to research/play with it more but it shows im transmitting and no one hears anything doesnt matter if i set chat to fleet, wing, squad etc. So in the end I usually use ventrillo or something but when doing incursions many of the fc's just use eve audio.

Get rid of modal windows. The only time that modal windows should be used is when the action will result in an account changing effect (i.e. character deletion).

Windows that would result in an action being approved / stopped (i.e. "Are you sure you want to shoot Concord?") should result in the action not occurring, but should not lock out all other actions for a response. Note: I'm not 100% sure that example does that, but it demonstrates the idea I'm talking about.

#1: Load times: Would be nice if eve cached stuff into memory instead of on my drive. Feels like my drive is being shot in the foot when you're using cache, but it's cacheing information to the drive it was originally going to read it from in the first place.

#2 Load times: Initial launch of eve seems glitchy, bloated, and generally slow. My SSD isn't really doing much and my cpu isn't really doing much to load eve. why is it taking so long when nothing is doing anything?

#3 Pre load stuff into RAM based off of how my auto pilot is set. Would be nice to see my graphics be ready to role when I jump between gates instead of a 2 second delay.

Basically. I care about load times. Takes more than a few MS to load? too long!

If you have a lot of kills and open the "kill rights" tab on your character sheet, it... doesn't work. Even an option that says "Too many to count" would be fine. Maybe even gratifying.

If there is ONLY one item that matches, don't make me select it from the list. For example, if someone is searching for "Raven Blueprint" to link, don't pop up a list that has only that item in it and require them to select it.

A "select count where item like 'blah'" run first should return a value and based off the value (1 or not one) should determine if a query is run to populate a list box or insert the link automagically.

The client should have a way to automatically turn off and on effects depending on the fps you getting.

For example: I log on and see that theres a new option and I check it.
I go to a system, and my client got full effects on. Then I meet with my gang and because it got 20 ships and my fps its getting lower (because my machine sucks) and it turn off some effects. Then my gang and another small enemy gang clashes and more effects turn off. Then my gang get to a system where there are too many ships and it keeps all effects off for the moment.
I die. When I undock again, because my fps its high the client itself turns on all effects so I fly happy enjoying the scenery.

When jumping (gates and wormholes) the camera position (always) and zoom settings (sometimes) are reset. Stop doing this and preserve the camera view. When a user zooms out and selects a particular viewing angle, respect that and always preserve the settings. The only time the camera view should change is when the user changes it. Even when I undock it should be the same as it was when I docked.

This seams hard to do... and will probably stress the server... can you imagine if there is a 1000 ships ganking the other side of the gate? as you set the autopilot you will have a master Lag...

Althoug if the server cluster is not overloaded and sort of idle, it can spare some processing and start transfering information before you jump... as you are near the gate or warping to it... and maybe this can reduce the lag spikes...
