Most of my problems relate to being able to see when data arrived from the server, instead of having it hidden behind a thin veil:

When I sell an item, I have to wait 1-2s while the listing goes through. Only after it's complete can I continue to interact with items. Worst of all, it sometimes changes the selected item during the sale, so a fast right click may affect the wrong item.

A station with 4 items in it should feel as snappy as a station with 200 items in it. When I open a station with more items I can feel that it takes longer to load the inventory. You know what station I'm docking in, so just send me the inventory when I dock up. (Potentially, add an option to pre-cache station inventory on docking).

When I disable a module or a target is lost (by destruction or unlocking), the cycle should end immediately when the timer reaches the bottom and allow me to target something else right away. There are many times when I'm firing half way through the cycle, instead of at the beginning due to this. Watching this happen makes it feel like I'm not really in control of the guns, that I'm telling someone else to fire the guns, and they're firing whenever they feel like it.

When one-shoting ships, the target will regularly detonate with a nice explosion, followed by my guns firing a volley at the remaining wreck. It would be wonderful if it was the other way around.

Everything related to drones. They take 2s to respond to any command, the drone window will disappear and reappear while they transition from hangar to space, they'll even target different enemies when set to focus fire.

On occasion, when changing systems, the old system's local will stay open and the tab will change to "Local: [System]". Hide that stuff, so I don't notice.

I'd really like the Orbit at default range to be ship specfic (or optionally so), so annoying to have to set it (or more liekly forget to reset it) everytime you re-ship.

Not performance, but since you are touching the client... DON'T MAKE ME RELOG EVERY FRICKING TIME I CHANGE MY CHARACTER ON THE SAME ACCOUNT. There, I feel better now.

  1. When emptying a mining ships cargo hold it won't let you drag and drop if drones are depositing items, or you have to select/drag/drop before the next drone changes the contents of the cargo hold.
  2. The client starts up a little slowly and there's often a delay between the splash screen and the login screen.
  3. Sometimes there's a delay when switching jump clones, so some messaging to clarify the switch is in progress.

Good question! What myself and the two other devs named in my blog are specifically interested in is harvesting your feedback on client performance.

How do we know whether the cause of something that is slow is the client and not the server or something else?
From a developer point of view it's probably obvious, but that doesn't necessarily apply to us the players.

Or do you just want a list of all things I try to do which don't happen quickly enough?

Yes! things that you think don't happen quickly enough or that don't let you know what is happening are definitely things we are interested in.

If you're not sure if it is a server call or the client that is lagging out don't worry, tell us about it anyway and if a load of people have the same problem it is probably worthy of our attention regardless of the reason why it happens.

We're testers so what we can promise is that we will investigate, the only thing we can be completely sure of is that problems we don't know exist will definitely not get fixed.

Not quite sure if this fits, but every single focus locking popup needs to die in a fire. There is absolutely no reason some window that suddenly decided to appear should stop me from clicking or key pressing until I finally close it. This largely applies to windows of the style used for Downtime Notifications and many other things, so it should be as "easy" as going to the base class and changing the behavior there.

EDIT: For something actually slow, bookmarks as items.

EVE veterans/loyalty program
Present: Senior GM Homonia, CCP Dr.EyjoG, CCP Alice

"The thought behind the Veterans/loyalty program is that CCP wants to earn customer loyalty and in turn, reward customer loyalty. Rewarding long standing customers is just good business and it is time that CCP starts a program like this."

"EVE players are very loyal customers and the time has come for CCP to properly recognize this."

I suggest that Loyality is payed to the Characters that are payed by subscriptions and payed by from PLEX that the player uses. I feel disadvantged that i cant earn 300+ Mill a month of ISK to buy PLEX. So why should players that use this be given loyality when they dont finiancially benefit CCP.

IE one player has one account and so pays subscription fee. Another player has one account payed by subscription and has 3 Alts payed by PLEX he earns in game. So to me both players have one account benefiting CCP as a company.

CCP might have people working for free but i bet there are overheads to pay

Using "Shift+Click" for contextual options, Like shift + click the Warp button aligns, shift + right click "uses" that object (jump, etc); shift + click a target orbits that object, shift + right click keeps at range.

Suggestion #1: Places that cargo can be held, for example; Corp hangers, jet cans, cargo bays to say "empty" if actually empty so we can tell if the contents is still loading.

Sugestion #2: Chat windows to load in a set order depending on the order they were when the client was last closed. it is most annoying to have random chat windows the first in the list instead of local for example. etc.

Thanks :)

When changing orders with the wallet and market windows open, the entire client seems to freeze for a second each time either of those two windows updates. The camera sway of the station environment stops; if I was right clicking the next order that jams; if I was typing in a new price that freezes midway through; etc. Basically the whole client locks up each time instead of just the windows involved in the update. This gets pretty frickin' annoying when you have a large list of orders to place or modify.

Add Triple Buffering to the graphics options, it would smooth out the game experience for those who run Eve with v-sync enabled.

Right now I use RadeonPro to force this setting into Eve, as otherwise my options would be limited to 60/30/15 fps and nothing in-between when v-sync is enabled, or 100+ fps with horrible tearing effects and an overheating GPU when v-sync is disabled. Hey, v-sync even saves energy! :D

On a laggy connection (Extremely slow, etc) - opening a Show Info can freeze your whole EVE Client system even though you should still be able to do "other stuff". It's obviously waiting for the data to arrive from the server, the whole client decides that you can't do anything until that arrives.

Seems strange that it should do that and it's always in the most inconvenient moments.

EVE Voice - Sometimes you're unable to join a voice server, even after repeated attempts or restarts in a fleet. I know this is a complicated matter, but deeper looking into this would help - it is always a massive inconvenience when this happens.

I've even had it happen where ONE CHARACTER can not log into EVE Voice but an ALT account can do it. So there's something fishy there.

To go with the whole "windows" fixes.

When unlocking/locking/stacking/manipulating large volumes of items in a window it obviously slows down. A notificiation stating that your request is being processed would be nice.

When you select dock often times your client decides against automatically docking. So for example I've clicked dock and left the room to go pee quick and died to gate guns on the station.

works for jump also.
with both the old manual click and the new jump button from distance, it happens like 10-20% of the time that the ship do NOT jump. making the new system without interest, as you still need to check in case of.

Sebo effects, for the love of god sebo effects! On lesser computers even 3 or more ships clustered with sebos on can lower fps by quite a bit, and the only solution is to disable all effects, many of which are really useful in a fight, like points, webs, who is repping who etc. There really needs to be a different effect or an ability to turn off just sebo and tracking computer effects.

yeah, same issue for me, sebo are a big problem for fleet fights

More of a design issue than slow response, but:

Give me an option to expand my color-coded (with tooltip) boxes representing my autopilot route. This way I can see instantly whether or not I'm going through a lone .4 with my hi-val (to me anyway) cargo without having to open the starmap, click on the autopilot tab, expand the route, right click->show info on every hop after the first 5ish and then search for the sec status.

I'd like to point out that CCP actually makes MORE money (cash...the real world thing) through the buying of game cards and selling of PLEX in the game....at least in the US.

A game card is $35 and makes 2 PLEX. Cost per PLEX: $17.50 for a month of game time.
Me paying on a monthly plan: $14.95 for a month of game time.
Me paying yearly plan: $10.95 for a month of game time.

Now I don't know what the payout is to the GTC sellers, but in theory CCP makes more money off the PLEX buyers than otherwise (at least in the US).

Is this not now already the case? Or do you mean per specific ship instance rather than hull type, to take in to account different fits & flying styles?

What? Expand waypoints perhaps? I get 10s of coloured boxes appear top-left when I set a long enough route.

You are totaly wrong! Both acounts finiancially benefit CCP! Since someone is paying for the PLEX... We dont have to explain this theory here do we? Just think about it, If Plex do not benifits ccp why do they have it?
