its large enough to use this item.
i cant see a better ship to fit it too than something that doesnt want to be targeted.
i would give 1 more mid slot on the dst just for this item and give it another 5% bonus to cap usage and cycle rate.

might mix things up, especially in high sec.

i dont think i have ever seen one of these on km...ever (except mine when i first tried it out).

thoughts?

If they are such rare losses - why give them a leg up?

Edit: I see now. You are saying you don't see spectrum breakers on losses. I read it as DST being lost. I agree with the below post, just because it sees little use doesn't justify it buffing a transport.

I see the module as a failed attempt at minimizing N+1 issues. I think it fails because it works against attackers and logistics. If logi were not affected by it, then it would see a lot of use. That being said, I think it would then be way OP if changed to being logi friendly and it would probably be a real pain to code a single module to sort out who is and who isn't being nice to the ship it's attached to.

This is a niche module. It was designed to be niche, not widely used and it doesn't need a buff just because it isn't seeing much use. It certainly doesn't need a bonus on a ship that can fit it with no downside...

...Why? DSTs already tank like battleships, if you're getting ganked in one in highsec, there's something wrong with your fit.

nothing wrong with my fit.

i am trying to give a breaker a place to live. the dst got a huge buff when they were allowed to use the mjd, but since we have large, medium and dessy modules, its moot. so, in effect, it lost its bonus. change the bonus to something good.

and yes, the breaker was to defeat n+1. it still can. you find n+1 at both high sec gate camps and roaming null sec/camps. its a good idea in the wrong place. why only a bs? it defeats itself to run it. now, put it on something not really designed to be a combatant (even though they can use missiles). with a dst, you want to get away and deliver your goods. yet, it doesnt take much to gank these if you are actually carrying valuables. a coordinated attack and there go 600 wetware. with a change, these breakers would not only find a home, they would excel in that role. ok, maybe not receive a bonus, just allow them on the dst. give a pg/cpu boost to assist fitting or a reduction to the dst to fit them like bombers and torp launchers.

my question is, why waste a module? very very few people are going to use them. 1 small edit and they might find a solid home

O.o in null low and high since the mjd was added to it i have never lost this ship. i can not say that for any other indi aside from jump freighters. You need to fail really hard to lose one of these

EDIT:

as for a place for the tsb it has one if any change was made to it i would say make it so it has the same chance to break your lock as anyone else locking you rather than you always loose lock

But how would this actually help you? You can already just walk through most camps in a DST, assuming they can even tackle you, and if you're in enough trouble that a target breaker might help, then you're not going to get away before you get relocked anyway. One bump and you're not going to be warping out in the one or two ticks it takes the tackle to relock you.

If you're a big enough prize for a co-ordinated gank attempt then why do you think a spectrum breaker will make the slightest bit of difference?

Eh, there are situations where it might. For instance, you might be able to sweep scrams off of you long enough to hit the MJD.

MWD+cloak, MJD, ECM burst, i-stabs, and warp core stabs already do the job fine. TSB already works well in megablobs when an opposing fleet prelocks you and your logi hasn't yet.

Just because a hull shares a bonus with other hull types doesn't mean that it "lost its bonus". Not every bonus needs to be a 100% unique and special snowflake. I would love to see you fit 5-10k m3 into any other ship that can fit a MJD module. Please, I'll wait Roll

You're talking about taking a very powerful defensive module that is balanced with a strong downside, and putting it somewhere where it has no downside, just in the name of giving it more use. You're also talking about putting it on a ship class that really doesn't need the buff either. DSTs already see plenty of use. That's not a particularly strong chain of logic.

TSBs were put into the game to see what players would do with them. The answer has turned out to be 'not much' but that doesn't make them useless or in need of a buff. We've had auto-targeting and Defender missiles for years and neither of those needs a buff, they're niche application items, and that's fine.

There is one other possible module you could use to escape bad situations OP, but thats classifed.
In the meantime i hear WCS work quite well with the natural hull strength.
