Like its big brother the Gnosis, the Sunesis is a celebration gift given by CCP to our players at certain important points in EVE history.

Doesn't that bother you by the way? The EVE economy is almost entierly player-driven with player-made stuff. Injecting ships out of nowhere is fine when they have a way to be usefull without filling too much of a niche, like the Gnosis.

But here, you have a destroyer that's clearly more unique in its stats (especially its ability to tank, but also it's ability to probe which is completely new for a destroyer)... It fills a niche, and this niche is entierly made of CCP-spawned items.

I just find that weird for a sandbox. It's not the end of the world or anything, but it feels out of place.

The T3 destroyers would like a word. They don't have a bonus to strength but they have the slot layout to make it work.

Ship looks fun, especially for Alphas. Drone bandwidth is perfect, don't change it. Cargo bay seems huge to me.

If I remember right, I think this is the 4th time they've added a wave of Gnosis to the game. As well, they're added with BPCs, not straight ships, so they don't appear for free.

We got them for:

  • 1 for EVE's 10th birthday
  • 5 for EVE Collector's Edition
  • 1 at some other point?
  • 1 more now

I'm a little underwhelmed with the offensive stats. 4/4/4 with 3 turrets and launchers and a 25% role bonus to everything was about what I expected, even if 3.75 effective turrets/launchers is positively anemic for any destroyer, but if it's going to have such little direct firepower can it at least fly a full flight of drones? (For comparison, an Algos has 5 turrets and 15 mbit more bandwidth, while a dragoon has 6 turrets and 5 mbit more bandwidth.) The gnosis has a full 50 mbit of bandwidth and can therefore fly a full flight of size-appropriate drones, shouldn't this get the same?

tl;dr dronebay can stay at 40 m^3, but IMO it should have 25 mbit of bandwidth.

Looks like fun. Thank you, CCP!

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

Hello everyone o/

Many of you have seen our recent news update revealing the celebratory rewards we're sending to subscribers over the next few months.

The original update included this cryptic text:
Quote:
In addition to this, there are also rumors from an as of yet unidentified shipyard that indicate a new ship is about to be unveiled...

Today we're ready to begin gathering feedback on this new ship that will be handed out as part of the celebration!

The Sunesis is a new destroyer from the Society of Conscious Thought.
Like its big brother the Gnosis, the Sunesis does not require advanced skill training to fly and gets all its bonuses from fixed role bonuses. It also shares the Gnosis' "jack of all trades" design philosophy, receiving bonuses to all major weapon types and being able to be tanked in any way desired.

Here are the work in progress stats as they stand today. We'll be making tweaks as needed using your feedback and playtesting.

Sunesis
“The Sunesis-class SoCT Destroyer allows any acolyte to protect the investigations and secrets of the society.
Since it has very low skill requirements, any capsuleer can pilot it. It serves well in research and exploration but truly comes into its own in combat, with extremely fast align time.
This is a ship that shows its value when understanding the universe requires a strong hand as well as a sharp mind."

Role Bonus:
25% bonus to Small Energy Turret, Small Hybrid Turret and Small Projectile Turret damage
25% bonus to Light Missile and Rocket damage
50% bonus to Drone hitpoints and damage
37.5% bonus to Core and Combat Scanner Probe strength

Slot layout: 4H, 4M, 4L; 3 turrets, 3 launchers
3 Rig Slots, 400 Calibration
Fittings: 63 PWG, 175 CPU
Defense (shields / armor / hull) : 800 / 800 / 800
Base shield resistances (EM/Therm/Kin/Exp): 27.5 / 27.5 / 27.5 / 27.5
Base armor resistances (EM/Therm/Kin/Exp): 32.5 / 32.5 / 32.5 / 32.5
Capacitor (amount / recharge rate / average cap per second) : 575 / 320 / 1.8
Mobility (max velocity / agility / mass / align time): 220 / 2 / 1,500,000 / 4.16s
Drones (bandwidth / bay): 20 / 40
Targeting (max targeting range / Scan Resolution / Max Locked targets): 35km / 550 / 6
Sensor strength: 10 Gravimetric
Signature radius: 65
Cargo capacity: 600

To get this new ship for free, be subscribed before 23:59 UTC on September 16th 2016 and maintain an active subscription until the November expansion.

We'll have this ship ready for playtesting on SISI as soon as possible so you folks can try it out there.
Let us know what you think!

I like the drone bandwidth, that's 6 effective drones If I understand it right?
I see you have not mentioned an exploration bonus, even though the flavour text implies it, that would fit in well for the ship. Or would that make it too hard for explorer hunters? I think they could handle that? Just not a super soft target. Give it some thought, it would be a good addition, or of course it is intended, and just not specifically mentioned.

Edit: my mistake it is the SOE ships that get the bonus to relic and data analysers. Wouldn't hurt on this though.......

The racial imbalance from the gnosis is carried over to this ship as well but to a lesser extent.

Assuming one tech 2 dda caldari and minmatar alphas will get about 55 dps from the 3 fed navy hobgoblins they can use. Gallente and amarr will get about 108 dps from the 4 fed navy hobgoblins they can use.

Perhaps gallente amarr drone skills should be toned down or the missile and projectile gun damage should get a boost on this and the gnosis. Though the latter tweak may unbalance the gnosis and this ship for omegas.

The difference is actually ony 53 dps between the two. But the damage on the whole for this ship is not looking that big so it is something.

And the issue is more considerable in the gnosis.

This is probably a fair point. The low drone skills on caldari and minmatar pilots are probably unnecessary.

Alphas are racially locked so are restricted by their races ship drone bandwidth limits anyway. Allowing drones 5, medium drone 2 at least makes no difference to many of the ships they can fly.

Probably feedback for the other thread.
