So the most recent ingame event ended like a week ago, and having had time to reflect on it, my feelings are as follows:

1. Overall the idea behind the event was nice, some nice sites. It would have been nicer to include loot drops from more sites.

2. Idea of loot boxes for reaching certain landmark points was good, the choice and randomness of the loot contained within was quite poor. The variety of skins could have been more varied, had a selection of rarer skins. Maybe include faction mods or at least the chance of faction mods. Previous events included the chance of obtaining officer mods and blueprints for faction ships. I am not saying that these should be guaranteed drops, but chance based. I feel previous events required a lot less effort for potentially a lot more reward.

3. The length of the event was way too much, 40 days for grinding (which is essentially what it became for those that were trying to achieve top 10) took the shine of of the event towards the end.

4. Some of the missions were completely dumb and not related to the event in my opinion. For example, killing sleepers, drifters and completing incursions, have no relevance to the event, it would be nice for CCP to release numbers of missions completed and a breakdown of those missions to see the most/least ran, how many of the previously mentioned missions were ran.

5. Include more varied missions and limit them to the event sites, i.e hacking sites, allow those with non combat related skills to take part. The missions during this event were extremely combat orientated.

6. The 3 day timers on mission expiry were quite prohibitive at times especially if you had 2 or even 3 missions you would not want to run (multiple times during the event i had for example, kil 5, kill 10 and kill 50 drifters - i think thats what they were at least, mind is quite mushy atm), maybe include the ability to decline missions once every 12 hrs or so per agent, kind of like normal mission running but less frequently able to be declined.

7. If future events are to be run along the same or similar lines, then maybe CCP need to be more transparent up front in terms of top 10 updates, they were very infrequent and irregular, for example there was a period between 20/07 and 05/08 where there were no updates on positions at all. Either there should be a weekly/twice weekly update or there should be no update at all.

8. End of the event announcements and prize awards were very poorly organised. The event ended on 09/08/16, just over 1 week ago now, winners of the top 10 positions were announced on 14/08/16 and as of today 17/08/16, there is still no word from CCP as to when winners can expect to receive their prizes. In the meantime, over on the test server, the prizes are appearing on the LP store, there seems to be no period of exclusivity for putting in the effort to win one of these prizes before they potentially become available to the masses.

Having spoken to people that both took part in the event to try and reach top 10 and also those only interested in receiving the prize boxes, its things mentioned above that will stop these self same pilots from participating in future events. many pilots refuse to grind as it kills the enjoyment, others grind if they feel the end goal is worth the overall effort put in.

Sorry for the long wall of text, also apologies if posted in the wrong place on the forum. I would also be interested to see other pilots feelings on points raised above and also anything they feel like i have missed. It would also be nice to hear from any member of CCP regarding feedback on mission numbers if that is something they would be willing to divulge.

I concur with much of what Breaking Fast has said. I'll write my own review of the event if CCP can sort out this debacle.

The event announcements took way too long and we have yet to receive our rewards. This in itself is not as bad as the fact the exclusivity and value of our rewards is reduced before we even received them. When compared to other eve events like Theomachy or the Alliance tournament the time spent doing the event is disproportionate to its rewards (it might not of been if CCP hadn't messed up our exclusivity).

Theomachy is 4 hrs long, winners get 15 PLEX/Bhaalgorn/Ashimmu/Cruor/Rattlesnake Victory Edition/90 day GTC
Alliance Tournament is prizes worth like 100 bill isk each.

Neither of these event comes anywhere near to the time invested in the shadow of serpentis event for the top 10 people. It might have done without the SISI lp store going up, but now that exclusivity is gone and we still do not have a bpc at all.

CCP needs to address this and make sure that event winners feel like they have something to show for their effort that was deserving of the ungodly amount of time that was sunk into placing in this event. I literally took a break from RL to do this and what was a feeling of accomplishment has been dashed into a feeling of resentment. I spent 28 days running this event. That's full days. and towards the end it edged towards 24 hrs and on the last day it was 24 hrs.

This is the real kick in the guts and completely undermines all the effort of those who participated in the event.

Absolute kick in the guts.

Additionally, I am not really interested in publicity (but I can't speak for the rest of the winners), but I found the attention given to our grindfest on the o7 show appalling, more attention was given to some instagram contest, where the act of capturing a screenshot, you know a fraction of a second and uploading it (modified, or maybe not) got more attention than the 1000's of hrs the top 10 collaboratively poured into this event.

It was the same like that past copy/paste events just with Scope Network and "prizes". A simple grinds for those that have the most time to "win".
The amount of people taking part in it may be the most important factor... but how many of the actually enjoyed it (survey maybe).

You are significantly discounting the time invested into locating and designing a specific screenshot, and also massively underestimating the amount of practice time that goes into an AT team and the number of hours of support crew that make it happen also.

Also the LP store was advertised in advance as getting most of the rewards (Is the scope armour in any store) and anyone who got those BP's in week 1 of the event did get a period of exclusivity.

This is not intended to devalue your own efforts, but complaining that 'someone else did less than me' as your main complaint makes you seem petty. If your complaint has merit it should stand on it's own feet, and not need to dump on someone else's achievement.

I was pretty annoyed when I wrote this.
