As I understand it Citadels are to replace POSs, the latter to be eventually phased out. Has there been any indication as to what will happen to the BPOs held by players for POSs and Arrays and for that matter the POSs and Arrays held? I may have missed something somewhere.

CCP is discussing a buy-back program, but no news on that.

I'm my own NPC alt.

This^

Normally they buy them back - NPC buy orders is typically how they've done it in the past.

However, I cannot remember from previous ones if they take research levels into account on the blueprints, or they just use the NPC price.

Eve is like an addiction; you can't quit it until it quits you. Also, iderno

they don;t. they just buy them at a flat fee, or take them from your hanger and just give you an ammount.

And tot he op: you really don;t have to worry about any of this for at least another year. my guess is another 3 years.

OMG Comet Mining idea!!! Comet Mining!

The last major buy-back was Phoebe, if you don't count the Force Auxiliary skill books.

CCP have historically done buy-backs two different ways:
1. NPC base price for NPC sold items (BPO, skill books, etc.).
2. An arbitrary market price for non-NPC sold items (including LP store), picked before the buy-back is announced, to minimize stockpiling.

I don't think there has been a major BPO buy-back since I began in 2009, so there also hasn't been a BPC buy-back. The one minor BPO buy-back was compression BPO, and those were something one didn't make copies of.

With POS, there will be a lot of eligible BPC, faction items, and faction BPC, so how CCP chooses to handle those will be interesting.

It will be sad to loose all the time (years) and cost (billions) of BPO research. Large towers took a long time to research, as did a few modules like the supercap assembly array.

Many thanks for the posts. With some 24 associated BPOs, goodness knows how many manufactured units and a hat full of faction BPCs and items, the time and resource invested does add up but, in the absence of hard information, I will wait and see like everyone else :)
