Overview Sorting - rule for secondary column?

I know the overview can be set to be sorted by any column in ascending or descending order, but are there any rules for how equal values get sorted among themselves? As far as I can tell there is basically none, leading to a randomized list among equal categories or names.

I think it would be great if either by default or choice a secondary or even tertiary column could be set to better sort any rows within matching values of your sorted column. I think it would allow much better ability in setting up a flexible overview which does not require setting up multiple restrictive object lists for every different circumstance.

This has been a requested feature for a long time, but as far as I know there's still no way to give secondary weighting to the sort order.
