Hello

I have always wanted to try high sec ganking but before i gank a miner. How much sec status do i lose for killing a miner in 0.5-0.6? I wanna still be able to enter high sec afterwarths and don't really have a good system for ratting so ye

also is 416 DPS enough to kill say a retriever or a covetor?

It honestly depends on their fit. I would go more around 700+ dps if you are going solo against an untanked retriever or covetor. For one with a tank, bring a friend.

I just ganked a Venture on an alt in an Atron (196 dps) in a 0.6 system. He had two small shield extender I and I killed him just before CONCORD got to me.

If you have high sec status (up around 5.0), you lose a decent sized chunk per gank. If you are down close to 0 sec status you lose about 0.1 sec status per ship you gank - so unless you are already negative you should be fine to gank a few.

Do NOT gank the pods though - that is the fastest way to tank your sec status - so only kill those (illegally) if you decide you want -10 sec status. Side note though - *IF* their drones engage they will get a limited engagement with you (they will turn bluish green) - then it is *legal* to kill their pod, if you live long enough.

As for dps/skills/etc - the CODE website isn't a bad guide: http://www.minerbumping.com/p/blog-page.html

Only other thing to be aware of is that you do give your target kill rights on you - meaning they or anyone they share the kill rights with can give you a suspect flag if they see you in space within 30 days of the suicide gank - so don't go around flying anything expensive that you can't afford to lose.

edit: also -2.0 is the sec status level to avoid - that is where you get shot by the police in 1.0 systems
another edit: Specifically this page is the only one you really need for what you want: http://www.minerbumping.com/2015/10/catalyst-training-under-new-system.html

The dead swans lay in the stagnant pool. They lay. They rotted. They turned Around occasionally. Bits of flesh dropped off them from Time to time. And sank into the pool's mire. They also smelt a great deal.

You should be fine to gank a few people - I wouldn't push your luck past -1.8 though at the most (should be about 6 ganks without pods)

Pay attention to your sec drop each time of course too - I haven't ganked in a while, so I can't 100% guarantee the mechanics are still the same for the sec loss

You can get into 1.0 just fine, you just won't be able to loiter.

Sent me a mail when you next go out ganking, I'll tag along and give you some pointers.

ganking a ship cost you - 0,1 sec status
ganking a pod cost you - 0,5 sec status

The sec status you can push up again by buying clone soldier / transporter / negotiazer / recruiter tags.
U buy them, fly with them to concord office in Lowsec, charge them there for a fee and you sec-status will be fine again.
Killrights up your head will continue to exist.

Miners:
you have to scan before their fit. A Retriever can be tanked to hold out 3 gank catalyst, or the complete contary.

I didn't say he should *join* code - just that they have some decent resources for someone who wants to get into low-level ganking. P

Though last I checked they've raised something on the order of 1.5 *Trillion* isk as an alliance, plus whatever their members keep for themselves....so while you may debate their impact on the game, they are certainly not broke or closed yet lol

I went from 5.0 to 3.0 when I ganked a pod on Morgan.

On the alt, I went from -0.7 to -1.5 sec status with the Venture kill.

Actually if you do a little math you will find that the majority of the accumulated wealth is resting comfortably in the pockets of the leadership. CODE is (and always has been) essentially a scam to make a certain individual rich. He has stated that since his earliest posts - he is only in it for his personal profit.

Their killboards are still active though, and they've been sending out evemails/etc. Plenty of activity if you care to look.

As I say you can certainly debate their impact on the game - they can only affect you if you let them. But that doesn't mean they don't exist.

You're chasing fairies in the back garden, must have 'that' group mistaken for an active alliance.

1,575 kills in the past 7 days. Pretty active fairies, whether you believe in them or not P

All I see is a bunch of hapless jokes killing an ibis or retriever for laughs.

As I said a distant social experiment. Surprising what sub standard clones ( usually biomassed at birth ) will do to blindly make one man wealthy.............morons n twits.

Like Earths prostitute system making the pimp the man, whilst the working girls cop the std's, abuse and lack of respect on the streets. Sad is it not? Such low IQ's they know not what they do.Roll

Best we euthanize these fairies and put an end to this wayward social experiment.
