Blowing up afk people in general is the only logical thing to do.

Why let them make as much isk as an active player?
You want isk, you gotta work for it, you gotta play for it..

So, death (in game) to all bot-aspirants!

True story.

I left my afk miner in a belt for about 3 hours on saturday - just sitting there. When I finally got back to my computer I noticed I had full shields but only 8% armor (hull intact). Closer inspection showed 5 dessy wrecks next to me. 2 amarr, 2 gallente and 1 minny.

I'm in a 0.6 in a mack. Nothing special on the fittings - standard t2 stuff. I'm not sure how/what the deal is/was. How does a mack survive 5 dessy? Why didn't they come back for round 2 and finish the job? What happened???

There were maybe 3 fac po still in the belt w/ me and concord was sitting outside a station w/ the noobship wrecks, so I know they pulled them, but didn't come back and finish. I'm more confused than relieved by surviving the event. The wrecks timed out and disappeared about 15 min after I got back, so they had almost 2 hrs to finish a mack that was down to 8% armor.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Yes, apparently it is for whoever tried to gank him.

OP

couple of things.

Firstly CODE are scum bags, their claims and justification for playing eve in "easy mode" are poor.

Secondly, Join a corp, you're reasons while somewhat valid should not stop you from joining a corp. Eve is not really a solo game for the newer players and rememeber, if you don't like your corp you can leave it.

Thirdly, as many have already stated, New Eden is not safe... anywhere. I believe it has already been mentioned, making isk AFK sure not pay as well as income made via activity.

If i can offer some advise, join a corp, learn from your corp mates.

Hey... I'm not a scumbag

No matter what people think, we're actually doing a favor to all the active miners and haulers and mission runners (that they hate or love us) by eliminating those that don't bother playing.

I'm sure most of the people here will agree with that fact, that they love or hate CODE.

I don't want to derail the OPs thread.. but your claims to attack only the afk is simply not true...

If they were it would make my statement that the CODE play Eve in easy even more correct.

either way... scum bags

if you want to debate this one on one, you can find me in Teskenen. Because being an even bigger scum bag (-10) I can't come to your place.

High-sec is still a viable place to live?

Besides, if they are _really_ afk mining, they deserve to be blown up. Any and all AFK activities should be detrimental to your in-game wealth.

It is becoming viable again, thanks to James 315 and the New Order who are helping all those content starved Highsec citizens.

Hi OP! Only just saw your post. I'm the one you replied to.

Welcome to EVE, where everything you do involves imposing your will onto a multiplayer game world.

If you mine, you are harming everyone that already owns the type of minerals you are mining. They have to compete with you to sell ore, or to sell completed products. (By mining, you, of course, also help some players - the net consumers of minerals, mostly alliances aspiring toward owning supercapital fleets and the biggest Citadels).

The counterplay to you imposing your will on the game world is for other players to prevent you doing so. Ganking is one of the tools in our arsenal.

Mining AFK is a method of magnifying your impact on the game world - you devote a few minutes to getting set up then have the impact of an hour or more of mining. Higher reward - but a much higher risk. Both NPC ships and other players will try to blow you up.

This isn't a cooperative game. Hell, it stands for 'everyone versus everyone'. Now, go out there and shoot someone in the face (in game of course). Win or lose, you'll probably both have fun.

I support the New Order and CODE. alliance. www.minerbumping.com

Not this subject again. I've played this game mostly solo since 2010 and the tools are there that will allow anyone to make money safely and without any concern for the time wasters such as code. Indeed I've never lost a ship to a ganker. So stop wasting time by complaining and make use of dotlan and killboards to stay safe and making isk.

Hello ladies and gentlemen!

I have been reading your posts all this time so your efforts typing were not wasted (not that most of you really care Lol).

I was also reading a lot of other topics on this forum and other websites. As I said before I am pretty good at reading between the lines, so here is my conclusion (general):

Being a hapless noob I raised a subject that was discussed many times and by the majority of the Eve's community the practice was "branded" as immoral (in the very moral world of Eve What?). Everyone (the majority at least) does it, but rare ones admit it Big smile.

You are allowed (and seemingly encouraged) to kill a new character who has no idea about the Eve's world, mechanics and who's overwhelmed by the game's complexity.

So much fun for the experienced players (shooting at sitting ducks)! Much more, of course, than picking a decent opponent for an equal fight and risking your expensive ship. Better kill the noob now (easy kill, something to brag on killboards), the moment he/she leaves the station, as he is presenting a danger for the Eve's economy and needs to be eliminated (better kicked out of the game) before he spends too much time mining some "enormous" amount of Veldspar in his rookie ship or Venture (for the smarter ones).

OK, I got it!!!! Subject closed (at least for me).

As the famous biblical Job said: "Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes." Who am I to question the "gods" of Eve.

See you (maybe) in the Eve's universe! Going back to the game as my Talwar (that I got from Mike) is sitting in the docks.

P.S. I am really grateful to those of you who posted useful information, or at least did not give me "attitude".

lol that's funny.
My best guess is people trying out ganking for the first (or at least early in their practice) time.
Probably their skills weren't up to par, or their fits were bad (I've seen people claiming rail cats are better for ganking, and I had to very calmly explain to them to no, no they weren't).
As to why they didn't come back? Good question. Didn't have supplies to reship? Thought they were all hot to trot and got frustrated at the first failure?

Overall an interesting situation to say the least.

I thought you said you were good at reading between the lines? Damn near every conclusion you made there is wrong.

To get started, if you get into an evenly matched fair fight, you screwed up. Battle is about victory, not some abstract artificial Space Honor. Your job as a pilot is to convince your opponent the fight is in his favor, (even if only slightly) so that he commits to the engagement. Once he does, that's when you reveal that the odds are actually in your favor and he's screwed. If he's better than you, you'll find out he was actually right and you're the one that's screwed.
Either way, if it's actually a fair fight, you both screwed up.

Eve is a violent multiplayer game. Caring is sharing (bullets, preferably at high velocity). Eve is harsh, Eve is brutal. Your decisions have consequences, sometimes you get lucky and avoid them, other times you don't. But every decision you make has consequences and you need to be prepared to deal with them.

That means that if you choose to go AFK you need to accept that you might come back to find yourself in a station with no ship.

As to the skills, stop making excuses and get out there and learn to fly. Fly cheap. Join a group that will provide you with ships, that way you're not losing your own money. And then insure the ships they give you, that way you're actually making money by dying.
You'll never learn how to PVP ready a god damn forum, the forum is mostly here for bittervets to ***** at each other.

This is Eve, it is the greatest terrible game ever. The people make it great, not the mining mechanics. Get out there and see what makes it so great, or stop wasting your time mining afk while you read forums.

I hope to see you in space! Preferably in my fleet, or in my locked target ui!

This is life..you gotta realise that every hormonal 14 year old, full of **** and bravado is gonna get in a Despite and shoot **** up. Just sit in the cab and mine..unless you have the magic undying barge that is.
