Yo,

I could really do with some way to partition the cargo hold in ships.

This is the concept:

It's interesting but can't you just use cargo cans and get similar results even if the size options are limited? Plus you even get extra cargo space from some of the cans.

Agreed, you can use a can. If i chuck in a small container, I loose 100m3 but get 120m3, a gain of 20m3.

...but, would it still not be a nice addition to the current system? I think it would be useful for a wide variety of players. Keeping your stuff separate while still visible from other cargo must have uses across the board. Some that come to mind.

You can't load scripts, or a ammo type directly from a can, you have to move it out the can and into the cargo bay to be able to load it.

You are unable to place a (unpackaged) mtu or mobile depot into a can, it will cause a graviton harmonics chain reaction, whose end cannot be determined.

You can't see, at a glance what you have.

Not all exotic dancers are into kinky containment techniques.

This would not help me, not even one tiny bit. Perhaps it is the bitter vet thing in that I came up with a system years ago that works as well if not better than your idea and solves all of the problems you point out.

So you leave them in the cargo bay and place everything else into labeled containers and your problem is solved.
It really only takes a second or two to click on the can to see what is in it .
Even better hold the shift key and click on the can and it will open in a new window allowing you to see what is in it and your cargo hold at the same time and the very best part of this is that it requires NO effort on CCP's part since it has been in the game since I started playing.

So leave the MTU / Depot in your cargo hold with the ammo.
Not enough room in your cargo for a can and your other stuff then cargo expanders, a ship with a larger bay or even secure containers anchored in space and come back and pick up your stuff are all options.

Yes you can see at a glance what you have see above about opening into a separate window.

Who cares about exotic dancers, I always eject them into space just ot watch them implode so it really does not matter.
But let's get real they are worthless in any way that really matters so why do you even pick them up.

Have you tried using the wonderful side bar on the left side of the inventory window? You can expand your ship to see all the containers within it, and click those to see what you have at a glance.

You can also drag from wreck/can/MTU directly to the name of the can you want to put things in. This allows you to keep loot in the containers, and the stuff you actively use in your main hold.

Oh, look. Everything you wanted is already in the game. Big smile

Filters work too. Clumsy and clunky as they are to set up, filters can be a lifesaver for inventory management once you get them going.

Just wish there was a setting to uncheck all other filters when you turn one on; gets rather needlessly tedious scrolling up and down my filter list to make sure no other filters are checked before turning the one on I want.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."
