We are happy to announce that the old camera system will be retired from the EVE client with the 118.5 release, which is coming on May 31st.

With just 5.5% of the community now utilizing the old camera system, we feel that the new system is ready to take over all your spaceship viewing needs. After considerable amounts of community feedback over the last few months, which has enabled us to identify and eliminate pain points and include additional features that have been added for testing on Singularity, including a number of player requested additions that give some of the functionality to the orbital camera that was present in the old camera system, we are now happy to retire the old camera system from EVE.

You can get involved in the final testing of the new camera system by hitting our Test Server, Singularity, and if you have any further feedback on the new camera system, you can post right here in this feedback thread.

New camera works well. The only thing I have not been able to figure out is if the old "right click and pan" feature is either not present or is different now.

This should be hitting Singularity soon.

Just starting to look at this in testing.

Vertical sensitivity is still lower than horizontal for no apparent reason.

It bothers me because the game isn't primarily played on a horizontal plane and I often need to pan the camera whilst manually flying. Because sensitivity on both axes is not the same, panning is often inaccurate.

This is hard to get used to as well because I play other games where the camera pans with the same speed on both axes.

I'd really like sensitivities to match or at least sliders for both axes to adjust them myself.

Hopefully it includes the right-click, pan, left-click, drag to zoom in without changing camera position behavior, not just the right-click and pan. Lots of pretty little features on things in EVE, and without that functionality there actually isn't any easy way to ever find them - and it's also really hard to get the same kinds of angles for pictures and such without it.

About time, though. Like, this is literally the one feature missing from the new camera that has made me (as a user) refuse to accept it as being feature-complete, because there wasn't anything even remotely similar available to replace it. Glad it's finally here, but it feels like it's taken a bit too long for it to show up.

No new mirror planned at the moment, but when we do I can't imagine we will give out caps again.

It should do. There are a couple of known issues at the moment with it for instance the zoom is not correct, but we are working on getting them sorted, and look forward to your bug reports and feedback once it goes live on sisi.

could you make the ctrl+mousewheel thing a keybinding? because i tried to unbind it but it is not under shortcuts, or at least i could not find it after a extensive search.

it happens often to me that i accidentally change the FOV while trying to lock targets with ctrl click.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

Please, please, please - move the camera's pivot point to be "in front" of the "lens" instead of "behind".

Can we please have an option to turn off the spooky sounds that come with the tactical camera?

Unless it's a bug, I hear no sounds from the tactical camera on singularity. That will make it finally acceptable to use. Thanks.

Any possibility of getting the custom tracking position feature of the old camera back?

This is my number one request. For the live shows I do if I can't see the target and my ship at the same time I'm not happy. Having the target centered behind the ship just does not look good. I just want the functionality from the old camera of selecting a target and setting it's location on the screen. Than also that it auto focuses on the custom target on a single click.

This for me is a make or break item. I keep trying the new camera at every patch and every time this is what makes me move back to the old camera. If this one item is fixed I'll be ok with being forced to use the new camera. But without it's like putting new windows in my house and the quality of the new windows actually gives a view that is not nearly as pleasing to look at.

I'll be starting the show tomorrow exploring the new camera on the test server. :)

CCPLS!!

Make it so when i look at a target and the target is a long way away that the camera sits in a fixed position on that target.

Currently it waves around. lags behind.

Even on a target that is close - it decides it wants to move on its own.

That is annoying as ****.

please fix before forcing this on us.

Bullshit.
Maybe because you force it on with every patch.

The new camera is sluggish and inferior. Keep the old one.

Basically jumping on the ‘right-click to pan’ waggon, glad to hear it’s coming back!

More of a ‘would be nice’ than fixing a problem; but any chance we could have two tick boxes next to each of the Camera options, one for Tactical Camera and one for Orbit?

As an example shake and bobbing is quite irritating when using the Tactical view for some of the more important things but adds a nice cinematic feel when flying about with the orbit camera doing nothing of note.

Pressing Esc and clicking twice isn’t exactly ‘PI Interface’ so I’m sure we’ll live without, but it would be a nifty little QOL addition.

just seconding this

with the old camera, I used the right click thing all the time for close up looking at what turrets/launchers a ship has. with the new camera all I can do is do the alt/ctrl zoom which makes the fov go all wonky and only looks at the centre of the model I'm looking at, so usually the turrets I'm trying to see go off the screen or whatever. most of the time when I'm trying to see turrets on a svipul or whatever cancer ship, I end up pressing my face against the screen looking at pixels

At the very least, don't forcibly bind it to control. Control is too important.
