I have just seen this post about a new way of rendering graphics in games.

The examples they give are FPS games, but I was wondering if this technology could be merged into the EVE universe.

or are they already doing something like this.

Here is the link to the home page,

Have a look at the video Youtube

As for client performance alone yes it would work, but what causes the most amount of lag in eve isnt usually the graphics but the fact the client is having to send a packet to the server that hey I wanna do this. Server gets the request processes it then copies thousands of orders back out to every client in the local area that hey this person did this, this is the result. This happens amazing thousands of times a second and it gets worse with more additional persons into the mix.

Dust 514's CPM 1 Iron Wolf Saber Eve mail me about Dust 514 issues.

First of all, its NOT yet for games.

All the footage are pre-rendered. So dont let the fluidity of the motion fool you.
Its a nice idea, For the future (Atleast 5 years), In today's world even in the top high end home PC, there is not enough processing power to handle that kind of rendering in real time as in over 30 Fps.

And as for CCP using it or not, i prefer they focus on more gameplay then eye candy.

Christ it took like 4 years to get them to make a closet and now you want them to start from scratch?
