Overview still list criminals higher than alliance members

The default overview still list criminals on a higher rank than an allied member either official or with blue standing if the person has a security status under -5 he will show up as red. We have a huge influx of new players atm and they will shoot blues if they use the default settings. A criminal in my alliance is not an enemy!

Awoxers? That aside, you can still drag the respective standing display rows in the Appearance Tab according to your needs. You should explain that to your new players and offer them a suitable overview package.

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.

Thats kinda the whole point of the post you should not be needing to do that on your first few days in eve.

In the first few days, a criminal in your corp/alliance could ruin your day. I think it's sensible that a criminal will be shown to them regardless of standings. It does not only teach that these things exist in your very own and thought-to-be safe environment, it also teaches the new players to pay attention and not mindlessly shoot at everything that is out there.

I disagree with you in the strongest possible way. Since very few true new players will be joining a player corp that is part of an alliance in their first few days in the game their ability and need to stay safe (relative term) in those first few days trumps everything else and the current default overview settings give them the best chance of success.

Rivr has it correct, part of a new player joining your corp / alliance should be helping them understand the lay of the land as they say and that should include sharing with them any overview settings that are required / preferred by your group. If it is to hard for you or takes to much of your time to tech these new members these things or to share an overview setting then I respectfully submit that you are not qualified to work with these players whether they are new to the game or just new to your corp / alliance.

One is given cause to wonder, when this character spent the vast majority of it's time in this game in an NPC, and your current corp is not part of an alliance what difference would this change make to you? And what experience do you have that has lead you to posting this idea?

Default precedence should be, in this order:

Terrible Standings (always shown)
Bad Standings (always shown)
In Your Fleet
Excellent Standings
Good Standings
Alliance
Corp
Criminal
Suspect
Limited Engagement
At war with corporation etc

For limited engagement, criminal, suspect, and war target, by default, the background should always flash, regardless of whether a higher priority color has been applied - this addresses the problem of being able to identify criminal/suspect/limited engagement people in the same corporation or alliance - which is a very good idea for pilots still in NPC corps or in highsec PVE corps.

The current ordering causes endless problems the moment players join a PVP corporation - sec status really doesn't matter out in lowsec, nullsec, and wormhole space, and these defaults cause friendlies to show as red, and inevitable friendly fire incidents occur.

Having terrible/bad standings first is also a sensible default, because it enables players to flag awoxers and other undesirables and have them show up even if they are in the same corp or in the same fleet/

If you've been around long enough to be a criminal and you die to a week old noob that is blue, you pretty much deserve to die.

Educate your noobs so they don't do dumb stuff. If you don't want to educate them, then don't recruit them.

There are many things wrong with the default overview, this is very low on the fix first list.

The default overviews are very generalised.

You can now share your own overviews really easily. Make them a default that suits your corp and alliance needs better. I have one for noobs on the bullet in board that i update everytime CCP releases new ships and npc's. Also means everyone has the same overview tabs and sees everything in the same colours. Very handy for herding cats...err noobs.

This may be a little off topic but I say it anyway. Thank you for this!

Responses like yours and many others I read often here (you know who) give me a feel that at least some parts of the community will be in the right hands after I am gone and forgotten.

So thank you for that, keep the fight going and live long and prosper!
