"Container in Container" contract error??

I frequently put a small container in my ships to hold fittings.

Today I tried to make a contract on a remote ship to transfer it to another character and got the error: "you cannot enter an item into a contract which has a populated container inside".

Is this new? I found previous references on Google, but I've been transferring ships for a long time and never had this error before.

You always get that message if there is something inside the container or the container is not packaged inside your hold.
The best fix for it is to take the container out of the ship, then put ship and container on contract.....

It's mostly to do with a conflict of internal volumes and physics saying NO Lol

Is it possible to remove the container from the ship remotely?
