Farewell EVELOPDEIA, we have already forgotten about you.

So today while the servers were being restarted, I pretended I was a brand new player. I went to the EVELOPEDIA page, and was met with the notice, and saw links to https://www.eveonline.com/ and https://updates.eveonline.com/ followed by links to http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/ and https://wiki.braveineve.com/.

I then tried to follow the links. The former two were rather redundant, as someone that found the link to EVELOPEDIA in the the drop down menu (yes, it is still there) should be able to navigate back to either of those pages. I guess it works if someone does a search and is directed to a former page.

The latter two links highlighted an issue though. Yes I realize I am inherently biased, considering my corp ticker, and that I have done work on the Uni wiki in the past. But I have never before gone to the Brave Newbies Wiki. And what I discovered, to my dismay from the perspective of a brand new player, is that I was met with "Permission Denied: Sorry, you don't have enough rights to continue.' on many of them.

Now I applaud CCP for trying to highlight many of the community resources for players; but I felt very stressed (again, from the perspective of a new player) that I was being forced to register with the corp to access any of their information that was advertised by CCP as a community resource.

After digging around for a while, I did find what I was looking for: https://wiki.braveineve.com/public/dojo/wiki/start. As well as several pages with information to peruse.

I do like that there was an alternative to the Uniwiki given; I would never want CCP to implicitly endorse IVY alliance by giving our wiki sole billing, we are still an in game alliance. But I wonder whether improvement can be made to make the landing of a brand new player on the Brave Newbies site more user friendly, either by BRAVE members and/or CCP.

Thanks for reading my thoughts, and big thanks to everyone that helps make the resources available to the community at large.

If you'd like to discuss the shutdown of the EVElopedia, there's already a thread open.
