Not even once

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

Whats with all the doomsayers? Its not uncommon for people to move on from one business to another for a variety of reasons. Its not uncommon for people to be let go from a company for variety of reasons. While everyone seems to think this is the beginning of the end, its actually really healthy in the corporate world. In fact, its unhealthy( business wise) to keep the same people doing the same high level jobs for long periods. There are actually many companies( doubt CCP is one of them) in which middle and upper level employees spend no more than 2-4 years in the same job because its considered bad for the company and bad for the employee.

I would be worried if CCPs dev team never changed, not if they had people leaving and new people joining.

Don't forget this is the EVE for which we have just as many gripes as praise.
I am inclined to believe that people have been leaving CCP for a few years now because they want a few jobs between them and CCP before the company implodes.

I'm more inclined to believe that while working on a virtual harsh cold universe is one thing, living in harsh cold Iceland is something else entirely. Great place to visit, but not a place I'd want to settle down and work in for long.

People just don't realize what they're getting themselves into when they accept that CCP job offer and it takes its toll on them sooner than later. They jump at the first offer in a nice warm country.

Solfar looks more like scion to develop other IPs that is outside of the EVE universe. Makes perfect sense and since they share the same founders, a zaibatsu or conglomerate relationship between Solfar and CCP isn't totally out of the question, unless of course they left with bad blood.

Then he did it wrong, because Sólfar is also located in Reykjavik, its about 1 to 1.5 klicks away from CCP Headquarters.

Before founding CCP in 1997, Reynir served as the Design Director for virtual reality company OZ.COM in Reykjavik.

Wow, he just went back to the roots.

In CCP he was probably only hibernating until virtual reality will surface again, this seems is his primary interest.

Quote:
OZ changed its name from Medizza last year. The companies’ MD Gudjon Mar Gudjonsson is a well known entrepreneur in Iceland after building up an earlier company called OZ in the years between 1990 and 2003. Spin offs from employees of the earlier OZ include computer games company CCP, airlines booking company DoHop and 3D animation studio Kaoz.

Quote:
As senior development director at Riot Games, Aðalsteinn "Alli" Óttarsson serves as a compass for the development efforts of League of Legends. Alli began his career in 1999 as a web developer at OZ.com and its spin-off virtual world company, Smart VR. In 2001, he joined CCP and built the internal and external Web infrastructure to support the launch of EVE Online

Icelandic internet, is that a couple of degrees colder than the 'other' internet?

Yes, is an industry of temporary jobs leading to other temporary jobs. Not something I would want, but is the nature of the beast.
