Question About PI

I am getting into Planetary Interaction & I've come across a slight hitch in my progress,

I accidentally created an incorrect route from my Extractor to a Facility which caused a backlog to the Extractor after the Facility reached its capacity.

However, there is no way to move resources from the Extractor to another area without running a new program, so far as I know. Is this an oversight? Must I run a new program & obtain ~more resources to simply move more resources? Or should I be able to move them if the Extractor is holding it all?

I know this might be confusing, but I myself am a bit stumped. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Redo the routes....

Or add another storage facility, I usually do that too. So when the the first one gets filled up, I do an expedited transfer to the second so I can restart without emptying planets.

"Expedited transfer" can move stuff from any storage area to another. Also: launch platforms have a large storage volume that is very useful for buffering material.

But are the materials in the extractor stuck until I run another program? I feel like I will be in an endless loop if I just extract more things & never move the backlog.

If I understand you correctly, nope they are dumped and gone for good.

Do this, set up your planet so everything goes from the extractor to a storage facility, which then flow out to processing plants to convert them into P1s. And from there into a space port and with another storage facility attached to the space port. This way when thing start to get filled up you can use an expedited transfer. Be sure to have enough processing plants to handle the incoming P0s. I usually set up 9 or so on my planets.

So...

1 space port (with a storage facility)
9 processing plants
storage facility

The last one is connected to the extractor.

Okay so backlogged stuff will forever sit there to taunt me?

Nope, if it had nowhere to go it is sitting there on the planet surface and you cannot get it. I've lost millions of m3 of stuff by forgetting to correctly route materials. So don't feel bad, we've all done it.

Nevermind, I figured it out. This is one helluva confusing business to get into, but I got it. Thanks for your help everyone.
