pvp toggling

this game would be balanced better if CCP just toggled off pvp in highsec

as it is you can dodge wardecs easily and only goons and code can muster enough people to overcome the town guards

why is pvp even allowed in the starter area anyway

plus they added a duel toggle already

how hard would it be to just finish what CCP's started and balance the game around no pvp in highsec instead of having all these dumb cases where you have to balance ships solely around how often they get ganked in safe space

High-sec is not the starter area.

Attacking noobs in starter systems is one of the few things in this game that constitutes griefing, and is punished by CCP directly.

Also I get the feeling you are an alt of a CODE pilot who is bitter about someone stopping one of your ganks.

Rattati Senpai noticed us! See you in the next FPS!

I am an industry player and I am tired of CCP protecting my competition by buffing their haulers

stop holding stupid peoples' hands or stop rewarding them so much when you do

it is not fair to players like me who try difficult things

No it isn't. The starting systems are the starting area and PvP is prohibited there if you weren't aware. The rest of high sec is free and available with restrictions. Distasteful as I find CODE. and their ilk, the ability to PvP in high sec helps to control botting and keep the economy in flux. Since players are doing that, it means CCP can focus less effort on those aspects of the game and more on bringing us new content. Have you enjoyed building one of the new logi frigs yet, because I've certainly enjoyed flying one. o7

if pvp is allowed in highsec why does CCP keep nerfing it into the ground

please tell me the last time CCP did something about highsec being too safe

they treat it like it is dangerous when it comes to opportunity but make it so safe you can fly almost anywhere in anything and not die ever

This totally contradicts your op. OP asks for more hand holding and protection in HS. Good news though, there is a PVP toggle. It's called the undock button.

Meh, post with your main.

This doesn't make sense to me.

Unless you are saying you're an industrialist that uses an alt to gank other industrialists.

I make things in lowsec and haul them to highsec

because I am not totally dumb I do not get ganked

gankers are good for my business because my competition is dumb but CCP is making them safe by making freighters harder to kill again

No.

Because PvP is integral to everything in the game, including the newbie systems. They're just a bit more touchy about exactly who you PvP and how (and why) in those systems. This should come as no surprise as EVE is a PvP-centric game.

Anyway, the problem with a "no PvP" switch (to say nothing of a no-PvP area) in EVE is that it would have to have at least the following restrictions:
· You can obviously no longer lock any player ship.
· You can no longer activate any kind of AoE weaponry or module.
· You can no longer use the market, contracts or the trading window.
· You can no longer access or manage POSes and their services.
· You can no longer mine.
· You can no longer shoot rats.
· You can no longer access any kind of container in space.
· You can no longer carry any cargo out of or into a station.
· You can no longer use the on-board scanner or scan probes.
· You can no longer be in a fleet.
· You can no longer use salvagers and similar mini-profession modules.
· You can no longer access the industry interface.
· You can no longer access player-sovereign systems.
· You can no longer access free-floating permanent sites in space.
· You can no longer see local.
· You no longer show up in local.
· You can no longer see other player ships on the overview.
· You no longer show up on other player's overviews.
· You can only see other players' ships in space as nondescript grey boxes without decorations.
· You can no longer join a player corp.
· Your ship does not affect the physics sim of other ships.

In other words, there would be nothing to do and no game to play.

Its actually not. Ganking in rookie systems is a bannable offense.

Check Marmite and CODE.'s killboards for your "not die ever" theory.

if pvp is so important then why does CCP not want it in highsec

I thought docking and undocking toggled PVP?
Considering that over 90% of my PVP takes place in high sec I think CCP is okay with it.
Either that or they secretly hate me. Like, a lot.

Come hell or high water, this sick world will know I was here.

CCP can't seem to decide whether highsec should have pvp or not and so we get the worst of both decisions

It's probably more like they're not sure what to do with it.

PvE and PvP players require different things, so CCP have to try and make it palatable for all, so it becomes a balancing act.

As an Entrepreneur (CCP's classification) that does all my manufacturing in nullsec and a lot of hauling in highsec, I agree with your reverse sentiment here OP.

Risk in highsec absolutely benefits those of us that are smart enough to manage our risks and gives us a competitive advantage over lazy pilots that don't look after themselves.

Every time aggression is nerfed in highsec, it makes it harder for the better players to maintain their competitiveness, because the game makes the lazy safer.

Either turn off all agression in highsec and be done with it, or bring risk back to highsec and accept that people are responsible for their own safety and the safety of their assets.

Hello OP

I just want to say first that we are in no way related to the Goonswarm Federation, and don't ever use this non-existing relations to ensure via their CSM that we can keep the monopoly on the Highsec pray since scrub alliances start to copy our tactics. You would be a freaking crackpot if you believed that.

With that out of the way, I would like to say that PvP is not consensual in this game and a your whole industry gameplay depends on that fact. The whole stuff you could harvest and build in Highsec would be completely worthless, since it could be farmed with zero risk.
