Please remember to disable this again after tomorrow's update - I've added in code to track Wine usage. Ironically a last minute change in that code was what broke it. If I get proper statistics on Wine usage, it helps me build a case for ensuring Wine stays working.

No EVE for me then until this gets fixed since I only use GIT version of Wine and it doesn't have this option from staging.

Having the same issue as everyone else - but using Wine 1.8 via PlayOnMac. Everything was working perfectly until the last patch, and then:

fixme:heap:RtlSetHeapInformation 0x490000 0 0x33fb74 4 stub
fixme:heap:RtlSetHeapInformation 0x0 1 0x0 0 stub
fixme:msvcp:_Locinfo__Locinfo_ctor_cat_cstr (0x33f7c0 1 C) semi-stub
fixme:msvcp:_Locinfo__Locinfo_ctor_cat_cstr (0x33f4d8 1 C) semi-stub
Network layer using: CarbonIO

Terminating process by request - returning 0

Thank you for supporting the wine community! both for Linux users and those on OSX that prefer the Wine version rather then CCP's cider implementation!

I know that this is a forum for Linux, but I have a similar problem on the Tranquility. I am playing via Crossover version 14.1 , but there is no option under the winecfg to "Hide Wine from the Apps." I don't think that leaving my specs is going to help with the situation. Atm my launcher works, but once I press "play" it doesn't open the character screen.

Hopefully someone can help me with this.

Linux Mint 17.3 + Wine 1.9.3

Installing WineHQ Staging and marking option "Hide Wine version from applications" truly resolves this issue.

# sudo apt-get install winehq-staging
$ winecfg
--> Switch to Staging tab
--> Mark option "Hide Wine version from applications"

Start EVE client as usual. Thank you for both making this working again and keeping it interesting :)

Oh my days. I thought I was going to have a melt down.

It's hard enough being a Linux gamer without having to tell the guys on comms that you can't play because the patch has broken it.

Thank you for the work around, thank you for fix tomorrow/whenever and thank you snorlax for making eve as linux friendly as you can. I really *really* appreciate it.

Edit: Linux Mint 17.3 wine 1.9.3 (staging) - moving to the staging version and hiding windows version seems to have worked for me. Ironic that it was a patch to track linux usage that broke it. :)

Confirming same issue. Thank you CCP for working on a fix for this. I will wait for the patch as I don't want to redo my wine install.

Confirmed working.

OS: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
Wine: Staging 1.9.3

Enabled option: "Hide Wine version from applications"

For those that do not have the wine-staging repo be sure to add:
- sudo add-apt-repository ppa:wine/wine-builds
- sudo apt-get update

Then you should be able to install with
- sudo apt-get install winehq-staging

from the terminal, open the configuration with
- winecfg

The option will be under the "staging" tab

Thanks all.

Yup, as you said this is now deployed and fixed for us. Thanks for your hardwork despite the occasional hiccups like this, at least you can take comfort that this is nowhere near boot.ini ;)
