Yes, that staging version worked, thanks a bunch.

To recap, I use winhq build on Debian jessie (deb http://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/debian jessie main" in etc/apt/sources.list).
I was using version winehq-devel, i now use winehq-staging, changed using "apt-get install winehq-staging"
Now can go into winecfg and the staging tab is there, select "hide wine version from applications" and can run my usual command line startup with todays eve release.
