I just want to say that I absolutely love kill marks. A fun and glorious addition to New Eden.

Particularly on the Onyx, they look fabulous.

The only issue I have with them is that they do not seem to scale very well. I got to use my Avatar on New Years Eve (hurray for drunken Carrier roams), but for the life of me I cannot find the kill mark from the Nidhoggur I dispatched.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

Yes I have to agree. If they did it for the number of kills the pilot had using that hull it would be great. Good pilots would have lots of killmarks. Instead it is more of a badge of cowardice.

Apologies if this has been answered somewhere else, but have they changed the way kill marks are awarded? I thought it was only for final blows? I am getting more kill marks than I would expect from just final blows and wondered if top damage has been added as well.

And so would really bad pilots who lose dozens of ships for each killmark they gain.

Funny you mention that, my neut Legion has and never will get a final blow but has a lovely little row of kill marks.

Of course, when your the one with top damage on a carrier kill and a ceptor gets final blow (and the killmark) with his 46 damage, it is just so, , , , reality, kill marks don't really mean much - You got the lucky last hit, so what.. Little egos get a boost and no-one else really cares.
Especially when it doesn't matter who actually "earned" (for want of a more descriptively accurate word) the kill marks - You can trade the ship to whoever you like and the kill marks stay. This would indicate, the ship, not the pilot got the kills.

Kill marks don't relate to anything for anyone other than solo pvp'rs (a rare breed), if there is more than one pilot involved in the destruction of a ship, no kill mark should be awarded (in the case of capitals - highest damage should get a kill mark, not the lucky final blow) - Kill marks would then be a badge of honor, instead of the meaningless gimmick they are.

The ones I have checked so far are a Ferox, Heretic and Rapier. I've got one final blow (against valid targets) on each ship. The number of killmarks on them is 3, 2 and 1 respectively.

I have 5 on my Legion (just counted them) that has no DPS capability.
