I downloaded the new launcher as my Windows 10 upgrade seemed to have damaged the old one. I now see that I have lost a lot of in game settings - channels, overviews, icon shuffling and goodness knows what else. Anyone know how I might resurrect them? I tried running the old launcher but that appears to be dead.

Hopefully

I thought that was updated so the beta launcher now copies your settings.

In any case, this might help:

Here is the official thread for the new launcher and it's probably worth dropping your feedback in there:

The real solution was, of course, not using Win10. But I'm an old fart still using Ubuntu 8.0 on one of my laptops.

Which you only do so you can say you're doin' it.

There just isn't anything that can be said!

Who, me? Actually, I run 8.0 on an old laptop to work with legacy code because newer distros mess with compatibility a bit. My other laptop is running Mint 17.3 Cinnamon and my gaming PC, the one I'm typing this on now, is Win7.

Thinking I don't like Cinnamon though and I'm gonna switch it back to XFCE.

Thanks for the replies.

I followed the links but my searches found nothing until I realised after 20 mins that anything to do with AppData was hidden. Sigh.

My folders/files are similar to those in the link. So if I delete the contents of the folder with the most recently created files and replace with the earlier ones that might do the trick?

I agree with the comment about Windows 10, so I won't be upgrading my laptop until the day before it becomes mandatory. Perhaps us pensioners should form an "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" pressure group.
