Crimson Harvest was way more fun than Frostline so far.

In ch there was reasonable certainty of a reward dropping that most everybody wanted. For me, it was about every 3 sites that i got the booster. More importantly, the sites spawned frequently -- they always seemed to be up - sometimes more then one in a system. As a result, there was a lot of traffic in the sites, which lead to lots of pvp.

The frost sites seem to spawn much more infrequently, and have a much poorer chance of dropping any thing good. As a result, there is not the same urgency to run these sites and there is a lot less pvp imo as a result. Overall, imo frost is no where near as fun as cs as a result.

I doubt there is a difference in spawn rate, I'd guess it is more that people are running the sites less so they respawn less frequently. Sounds like there are a bunch of null systems or wormholes where there are multiple sites.

Yeah, there seems to be 2 groups of people when it comes to dissatisfaction with the event:

1. I can't find it/someone stole the only one I found/etc

These are the people are trying and failing at the event. I'm not sure how I should feel about this. On one hand this is EVE online and everything you do is a competition. On the other hand, I'm in this group, I just resubbed after awhile, and not being able to take part in a holiday event that involves blowing crap up is frustrating.

2. I've run it and it's boring
From everything I've read, getting into one of these sites completely depends where you are. For the people facing a bonanza of them... they don't seem to be entirely thrilled with it. It seems like it was aimed at everyone who can get into a cruiser (almost everyone playing the game) so the difficulty and rewards of the site were toned down on purpose.

One one hand, this might encourage people to stop going to the sites over time... if it lasts that long. On the other, it seems like the skill level of the site isn't aimed at the skill level of the people who are actually getting into them.

My thoughts?
This bothers me because it sounds like the level of effort to reward is completely out of whack. I'm kind of glad that it is encouraging people to explore (I even went into a bloody wormhole for the first time trying to find one). On the other hand, if the people who are getting into them aren't enjoying the content, something is clearly wrong with the design and mechanics of this event.

In terms of content difficulty, this seems like it was aimed at newbies and high sec carebears. In terms of content availability, it seems like it was aimed at a quarter of the people who have a svipul and no one else. Part of me is wondering if the devs were hoping stuff like ninjas would lead to fights, only to find out that the ninjas have svipuls and the other guys don't meaning you can't do anything to the ninjas as they'll either get away or get to kill you for your effort.

So I guess the best summery for this event is boredom and butthurt.

IMO the site would have been -greatly- improved with a simple low tier Overseer effect being RNG'd in. Like 5% chance of 7th tier, 10% chance of 8th 15% for 9, 25% for 10, 15% for 11, 10% for 12th, 5% to 13th tier. Nothing huge but would add a nice bounty without being silly.

It's not aimed at high-sec carebears, because high-sec spawns are practically non-existant. And it's definitely not aimed at newbies, since they typically lack the ship/skills/damage to be able to complete these before they get sniped.

If (emphasis on if) you're lucky enough to find one in high-sec (because they maybe spawn once every hour or so), you then have to complete with no less than a half dozen other players who are also racing to complete it. You're guaranteed a Quafe Zero, some t-shirts and maybe a more exotic article of clothing (if Bob smiles upon you) - plus maybe a million ISK or so in bounties. You're further ahead running any standard Lv4 or Burner mission.

Crimson Harvest is the gold standard for how to host an event. It was well promoted, the Scope video was first-rate and you were guaranteed a cool Blood Raider SKIN and the possibility of something useful in the form of one of two Cerebral Accelerators.

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

It should drop geckos like rain drops in monsoon season!!!

These cant be shoehorned in isk/h equation the more ppl run them the less of a chance one got high sec being the worst of all due to ease of travel for the most part.

That is not to say that they don't spawn often enough just hype is too strong many ppl run em

Got my self 65mil chip some extra apparel drugs was called *** other times shithead and gg as well wardeced by just being better then some.got some 10-15 sites running today.

All in all i like it it is content creator but there is a way to improve it CCP should look hard and invest in this kind of PVE as something that occurs often.

Edit

Just stop with the shirts already Jesus remove it from loot table.

You choke behind a smile a fake behind the fear

Yet if you take other players out of the equation, the sites themselves are dreadfully simple and easy.

There were probably better ways to do this event, either way.

Yep this event is a joke, mostly due to poorly considered rewards.

I enjoyed the blood raider event a lot, accelerators was a great incentive to take part. This event has no incentive for me.

It is a seasonal event. One aspect of this time of the year in my culture is to calm down and prepare for christmas.
As the devblog stated, rewards will change over time. So maybe we should all relax and show some patience until the culmination of the event.

Holy god cry some more.. This thread is exactly what is wrong with Eve honestly

No actually it's people like goons, code, off grid boost, ccp allowing some to cheat in the alliance tournament and others not as well as all the bittervets who try and keep the game from evolving that are whats wrong with this game.

NPC corp tears. What else really needs to be said here?

I like the part where people not being creative enough to farm the farmers and crying that CCP wont give them better free loot turned into

You Guessed it

GRRR GOONS THEY ARE MAKING THE RNG SCREW ME OUT OF MY LOOT GRRR

Oh and NPC tears

BTW.. As I was able to show in my post these things are huge magnets to T3 Dessies and Strat pilots who almost always have some kind of shine to them. So again why run them let someone else then gank them, scoop there loot and the sites loot, rinse and repeat.

Players of EVE expect to be hand fed everything and that is totally what is wrong with this game. It used to be about creativity and finding your own content. Instead it has now become GRR Goons Online, with a side of give me it for free or I will cry to everyone.

I live in null, i am watching a few of the quieter local systems out of interest and I see a spawn maybe every few hours.

Which seems reasonable for an event like this which is scheduled to last a while.

I did 23 frostlines so far and 18 out of those gave me a PLEX while the others gave the usual quafe zero+gecko+clothes. U jelly bro?

The real reward, though, are the delicious tears being shed in this thread right here.

Not only are the rewards bad for those who run them they are also bad for CCP.

The Serpentis shirts devalue all others t-shirts in the store. Them always dropping is poorly thought out as they could have been great if they were rarer.

So now you do a bunch of sites that drop next to worthless shirts that everyone will have. At least the Quafe is nice because it is perishable/destructible, but just a Quafe 90% of the time is very lackluster when you consider the hype around those sites.

The rewards are way too skewed toward the higher end, and are utterly terrible on the lower end.

Only way to save those sites as they are is to remove the shirts from it so they can recover from being worthless, and replace them with a more diverse array of loot so that you don't end up will all them dropping in value, like faction ammo, low-end faction modules, things that can at least be consumed/destroyed unlike a bunch of shirts.

Hit and a miss, so far CCP, hit and a miss"

CCP you could have used this opportunity to introduce a bunch of new skins and make them cheap so that almost everyone can afford one or two that they like but i guess designing skins is expensive and you would rather get $ for your effort."

The great thing about the blood raiders event was even in highsec site runners where more than willing to PVP with each other over the drops.

The fun part is shooting each other in the sites. And frostline is much better because it doesn't have those silly OP webs that allowed that Gila to escape from me in the blood raider site...

That said, I got a +5 cruise missile hardwire on my second site. Of course the better the prizes, the less likely they will be to drop. If you aren't happy with the prizes, just go hunt other people running them and take their loot instead!

These things are just littering up my overview...in highsec. They're most certainly here - and in large quantity - but you have to get off the beaten track. Outside of pipes, in dead-end systems and less-populated regions, they're quite numerous, much the same way that cosmic sigs tend to accumulate.

They could have given us no events. It's easy, cheap swag as intended. I've found multiple skins and someone in my Alliance found an officer mod. It's not designed to be friggin hard. The rewards clearly show that too. It's like a mini Christmas activity.
