I’m docked up in Provi because we aren’t infamous enough. There’s a good fight being had but too far. So I clone jump to six away and start burning in a cepter with an empty pod.

Desperation in comms for scrams. The two fleet cepters are down. Pandamic Legion has super caps on field to save Black Ops ships. Confusing and awesome. I wish I could overheat my warp.

We have maybe five confessors, a couple bifrosts and an inexplicable thorax… that doesn’t die.

Pather, Panther, Redeemer, Sin, Nyx, Aeon, Aeon, is this small gang PVP for PL? “We only have seven dudes… what?”

There’s a second fleet. The ones that got blopped and killed the tengu cyno? They have four or so drakes, a brutix, scimi, some bombers, and handful of lesser ships.

Our bifrosts have been doing a herculean job jumping the Black Ops ships around. I’m still in route as their battleships keep microjumping back to the warm Aeon embrace without any sustainable counter.

I dive in and scram. 5:36 eve time, two PL Black Ops die almost entirely to confessor fire.

In the next few minutes we kill two of the drakes that helped us and then thank them in local while the rest of their fleet warps off.

My alliance mates and allies have already been playing for hours. As a pacific time zone family man, I’m just getting started… with my awkward jokes and killmail w*oring.

I ‘feign’ like I remember one euro voice from the next, but Ms. Watson sees through me. Our friends have a svipul fleet active and need help cracking a carrier. My fleet reships for dps, and I burn direct because I’ve gone the opposite direction to check out a mining op.

With cepter warp speed, I arrive well ahead of my mates and commence w*oring on ships in bubbles. This may or may not have included allies, but only for killboard posterity.

Caracal fleet and a scorpion comes to save their capital friend and die to a man. Wrecks of three Domis and a devoter already decorate the destroyers’ grid. We are holding the field and winning when our Oracle DPS arrives.

“It’s chill but this **** guy is killing me,” a young voice says in comms.

What?

“It’s chill but he podded me too.”

Sigh, these new players need to pay better attention. Wait… how am I getting webbed?

Overheating in a no link no implant cepter under webs is like putting another set of wheels on a gocart.

Overview switch. “Blue sabre is killing me.” In the bubble. “I’m down.” Someone puts my name in local declaring me friendly. “He podded me.” The last time I died was in October. The last time I lost a pod was in August.

“He’s a new guy and his standings didn’t reset. Don’t kill him.”

I feign agreement and say, “Sure, no problem.” And I burn with a replacement and a promise in my heart.

I manage to return to get on another carrier’s killmail. We killed four. Apology email pops in my box, and I reply assuring no hard feelings. I might actually mean it.

I burn and catch a procurer, which escapes while three PVP ships coming to save it die. Yay, this is my happy place.

I attempt some non-eve productivity for an hour as my wife talks about light fixtures. My nods are steady and my smile doesn’t waver. I’ve been married for a decade.

Our fleets combine, and we join one comms. I greet the man that blapped me and again reassure that there are no hard feelings. I won’t kill him, but I might whore on his mail if he’s going down. That seems fair. We’re all nice guys… and a nice lady (flying an awesome new logi frig)

We knock on Test’s door, but they seem to be asleep in station. Are they disbanding or something?

Ratting rattlesnake is spotted some distance away going belt to belt. We burn with savagery in our hearts and arrive to witness the wonders of two storks working in skipping unison. What do you call a score of 18-0? A fight with The Gorgon Empire on their station.

We are the midwives of a new kind of station game.

One of our stork pilots announces that he is topping the lists in command destroyer kills for all of Eve. We put our thanks in local. They appreciate that their deaths have been entered into lore.

It is very late, even for a pacific timer. I was supposed to do something with my wife… what was it? PL moved to Utopia. It’s so close our delirious minds can’t resist and we burn burn burn.

Local is fat with Pandemic. Sixty stacked in station or at their pos curled up in titans.

I am very full of myself when I back up a point on an Oracle. I swing out of point range but don’t worry, then the BC warps off, and our confessor pilot apologizes for getting blapped.

I say nothing. My shame is silent and unknown. The PL pilot brags with the killmail in local. My eyes narrow, and I crack my neck. A vinegar chip slides down my chest, and I crush a beer can with the heel of a fluffy slipper (gift from wife, and yes they are very comfortable).

There will be no distractions.

We stork a nado off station. Killmail posted in local.

We stork a fancy legion off station. Killmail posted in local. The pilot claims he DC’d, but I’m not sure how him staying online would have mattered. The storks are unstoppable when delivering righteousness.

I catch a vaga jumping in and something tickles my brain… something irl I was supposed to do. Meh.

Tonight’s EVEning started and ended with Pandemic Legion. They are the rye bread of a great PVP sandwich, which I’ve savored like a reuben with kimchi instead of sauerkraut (try it, soo good). Thank you and gf to you all.

I call it a night and wait two heartbeats for a reply. So many hours in the company of Internet acquaintances, of friends.

My wife is asleep on the couch, so I shake her and say, “Aren’t you coming up? I’ve been reading for hours and waiting for you.”

She apologizes and I nod with compassion. I have been married for ten years.

Awesome. I'm sure we'll keep U-H in our loop of destroyer despair.

Come out with some CDs. I'd love to see the chaos of counter microjumping.
The frig/destroyer scale fleet is so... wonderful right now, especially when stretched out in Null-sec.

Awesome write up. Loving the waggro bits too, absolute gold.Lol

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

That was great fun to read - the stream of consciousness style worked really well. Also,

"Blue sabre is killing me."

100 red on field, better shoot the blue splotch.

You just gotta love that good ol' NRDS Provi, where they only shoot reds...

....and neutrals...

....and blues....

....but not that one guy because he was red until he joined another corp this morning unless someone has him personal red for reasons in which case they shoot...

...and Minny militia because RP.

But other than that, NRDS.

Good read though.

Sorry, I wrote that part in a confusing way.
We kill anything that's not blue unless called out as a friendly. For the fight where we killed four carriers, our fleet joined an allied fleet, but even combined we were no more than thirty, most of us in frigs or destroyers. Nobody involved on any side flies NRDS. I cloned jumped from Provi because I logged there after a late night roam burnt me out. Check 5Q65-4, 2015-12-13 05:18 - 07:04 on a killboard for the relevant report.
