Stealing should incur Log-Off timer.

So apparently one can immediately log-off after becoming suspect from looting a wreck. This should be changed so that one incurs a log-off timer when they go suspect to prevent people from evading repercussions by simply logging off.

Situations where this is exploitable would be if someone wants to steal something and warp away, they can simply stop their ship before they steal, logoff immediately upon stealing. They'll then align and warp away as fast as possible allowing them to safely wait out their suspect timer while offline.

If a PvPer pvps he/she gets a logoff timer. If a PvEer pves he/she gets a logoff timer. Logic would suggest that a thief should be held to the same standard.

Just a suggestion.

Ummm... shoot them so they have the timer? They are suspect after all.

They really need to make this forum a "approved submissions" thing. But then I imagine the ISDs are stretched thin enough as it is.

If I could, I would. Assuming someone can warp faster than a server tick (and assuming warping is put higher on the stack than warp disruption which I believe it is) It would be conceivable that someone could warp away without it being possible to agress them beforehand. Furthermore, this effectively gives them the ability to keybind warping (alt+shift+q) which is incredibly broken.

So instead of logging Off they align to a station or safe before stealing and dock or cloak. Thats how I do it anyway.

The inputs required to warp after looting require a short delay between the actions (which if I'm not mistaken is to balance warping being higher on the stack), wheras effectively having a keybinding for the warp action has no such delay.

Why the fu*k would they log off? they would just dock up! Think b4 posting sh*t.

And no, they cannot instantly log off, thir ship stays there for 30 seconds giving you PLENTY of time to tackle them, oh wait, your as* is still on the couch. Quit complaining about your laziness.

AND AGAIN, NO! You can NOT do anything once you've started the timer, know the mechanics before you try and sh*t talk them.

Obviously you dont, cause as a real PvP'er here, I have to deal with log off timers all the time.

If someone is really swiping ore and then logging off to get away with it - send the poor urchin some isk. It's beyond pathetic and is the duty of any upstanding mining folk to help out the needy. This has to be what I would call an 'edge case' that doesn't come up very often.

What's the isk value of a full can of omber these days? Am I missing somthing??

I would argue that a real PvP'er doesn't deal with log off timers all that often. Are you one of those docking ring heros?

Evidently yes he does and no you don't

Case in point : this thread

I regularly use logoff traps to catch squirrely war targets and have also spent an inordinate amount of time suspect from stealing things in space

Warping off and logging off in any ship is functionally identical with regards how quickly they leave the grid ,
which is the only pertinent factor here because if you Can't lock him it doesn't matter where he goes.

Usually no, but as Ralph King-Griffin pointed out, it has uses with FW plex trapping if you are careful (And somewhat lucky).
