Really? Who Cares about Dirty ships or killmarks... why don't you use the time fixing actual game problems... War Shedding comes to mind, as It is annoying as hell that a war is declared, all toons in decced corp drop corp and create a new one and continue on, no consequenses but the aggressing corp is out the WarDec isk...

You might as well ask CCP Janitor Man to start working on Corp and Alliance roles.

Would it be possible to have small (or larg)e streaks of biomatter (preferably blood) accumulate as well? I'm certain I've splattered enough pods with the hull to see some sort of color change

When we sought inspiration, two things stood out immediately: age and accomplishment.

Age - this was fairly simple to conceptualize. While hulls don’t sag or fatten over the year, they should present visual marks of longevity. They accumulate dust, dirt, and detritus—a general accretion of filth earned by nothing more than the simple process of existing. [...] The clock starts for any given ship when a capsuleer first makes that ship active.

Please reconsider. Time spent in a hangar should not count towards ship age. Let them gather dirt only when (if) they are actually out there and in use.

Also I second requests for completely opting out of both possibilities - the feature per se, and the "clean ship" button - some players would absolutely hate to accidentally clean their rust buckets, while others would be forced to "clean ship" at every pit stop...

Except for minmatar stations. Those should make it accumulate faster.

With regards to dirt, it seems to me that player behavior will be binary, ie.: (a) always clean the ships, or (b) never clean the ships. I don't think there will be many players who (c) sometimes clean the ships.

For players who always clean the ships, a "clean ship" button which needs to be repeatedly used when switching ships and before undocking is nothing more than a hassle. For players who never clean the ships, a "clean ship" button is nothing more than additional useless clutter on the station UI panel.

So, it seems to make more sense to put the "clean ship" button in the ESC Display & Graphics window, rather than on the station UI panel.

Just my two cents....

Another question :

What are the effects on dust level or killmarks when trading or contracting assembled ships ?

The assembled ship will retain its dust level and kill marks across trading or contracting. Repackaging, however, will reset those.

Proteus doesn't have the new V5++ shaders but it shows the armor damage as any other spaceship, how is that possibru? Big smile
Good job on those by the way, really amazing.

That seems a little strange. I thought these marks of wear and tear and kill marks were to show a pilots activity and fighting prowess. Instead one pilot can dirty up and fill a ship with killmarks and then just trade it to the next guy who gets to show off - someone else's effort.

My opinions are mine.

  If you don't like them or disagree with me that's OK.- - - - - - Just don't bother Hating - I don't care

It really is getting harder and harder to justify $23 a month for each sub.

So it has been a week since the patch, I have however not spotted any dirt on any on my ships. Has anyone seen dirt on their ships?

CCP: What is the timeframe for dirt to appear?

Thanks in advance

My skiff will be covered in dirt in like 1 or 2 days, my gila seems to be immune, so is my orthrus. So some ships are missing the dirt wrapper.

Personally I like the battle worn damaged look of a ship that has been in combat. Just a shame you can't keep it without compromising the integrity of your ship.

As for dirty ships, I think it must only be industrial ships that get dirty, nothing I fly regularly is showing signs of dirt except the procurer used for pvp roams. (it really isn't noticeable unless I zoom the ship as large as you can, then I had to have another procurer next to it to see the difference)

On the procurer, a few of the guys in fleet got kills (final blows) but have no kill marks. Do they appear in different places or just not work sometimes?

My opinions are mine.

Killmarks are poorly visible in captain's quarters mode. Could be a bit bigger and much brighter.

Ummmm..... Can we get some more dust please? I fly Minmatar and I really can't tell the difference. Either that, or the baseline hulls ought to be a little cleaner to begin with. Thanks.

I like the idea of killmarks - but I was wondering where they are on my Tengu. I dont kill much and I'd like to see the very few kills I have on this boat!

Edit. Ignore me, I think I found them

Do the killmarks accumulate per ship, ship type or character? I.e. my ship gets blown up and I buy a new one, will it have the same amount of marks?

Per ship.

repackage a ship, or have it blown up, and the killmarks are gone.

That's too bad. It just rewards the risk adverse.

It would be much better if every rifter I had fitted up, would have all the killmarks I had from flying that ship hull. It would also be nice if you could then fill a ship with killmarks as a goal.

IMO this would be much more meaningful.

The dirt seems a little buggy

I been checking my ships every few days to see if they look any different, and none of them have changed in the slightest, then I logged in last night and the majority of my ships are covered in filth! (Dragoon and Enyo still clean even though they are same age as the dirty ships)

Which seemed odd, as it wasn't gradual at all, it just happened over night. Then I just logged in now (15 or so hours later) and all my ships look like new again ( I didn't clean then or repackage them)
