Hey folks. For the December release we are currently planning the addition of some extra low-end minerals to Omber ore.

We're planning on adding 715 more Trit (for a total of 800 units) and 66 more Pyerite (for a total of 100 units) to each refine batch of standard Omber. Higher yield versions will also rise accordingly.

Alongside this change we will also increase the volume of Compressed Omber (all varieties) to 0.3 m3 to match the new mineral compression volumes.

This won't make Omber into a superstar, but it should bring it up into the same rough value group as some other highsec ores.

Let us know if you have any feedback on this plan.
Thanks and happy mining!

so whats the intention with this change beyond buffing a common ore a bit? .. does it link in to other things?

T3's need to be versatile so no rigs are necessary ... they should not have OP dps and tank

ABC's should be T2, remove drone assist, separate HAM's and Torps range, -3 HS for droneboats

Here I was just this week, spotting untouched omber sites in HS and thinking to myself 'that ore really is pretty awful, they should do something about that'. I take it from this change that you feel isogen is in a good place in terms of rarity and value? I might have gone and reduced the isogen amounts in all ores yielding this mineral a bit to increase its value.

Does a lot to close the omber/kernite gap in value/m3.

Good change.

wait.. no... Omber Must Remain Crap...

Why... Why Omber Why!!!!

Actually wonder if this will kill the trit market... through I guess omber in low/null would now become a bit more valued.

Yaay!!!!

We just need to rename omber into umber, then it will be perfect

Hi Fozzie,
This is a good move especially for Gallente & Minmatar Highsec.

The proposed changes put ombers refine value per m3 at about that of veldspar using current
mineral prices. Which isn't too bad. However using average mineral prices
for the last 6 months, omber would be better than veldspar and scordite, which is
great.

Cheers,
Neug

so omber is an isogen version of pyroheres.
still, except gallente-minmatar space it will be useless.

It's still only gonna be around 1/2 scordite and 1/3 veldspar in trit. Not to mention that considering miner hours are not gonna change, mining omber more means mining veld/scord/plag/pyro less. Now, plag has 1/2 of new omber in trit, pyro will be roughly equal (about 10% less but w/e, comparable), and tossing veld/scord will mean a lot less trit. So, instead of killing, it might actually decrease its volume produced in hisec, unless miners specifically drop plag in order to mine omber.

The change is very good actually, because it has implications not only on trit, but also pyerite. New omber will be around 1.6 pyerite per m3, a bit higher than current trit. That is around twice that of pyro, 1/4th of plag, and 1/7th of scord. If, assuming same miner-hours, plag or scord are dropped in favor of omber, production of pyerite in hisec also decreases, and even harder than trit does, which will possibly cure the pyerite inflation situation we have now.

Now, with current mineral prices, at full mineral cost, new omber will land at roughly 270 ISK/m3, which is within 260-280 ISK/m3 cluster all hisec ores currently reside in. So it will become a plain typical hisec ore, which is better than 188 ISK/m3 piece of derp it is now.

The hidden miner-hour based mineral balance move is good though, so I approve of this change.

This one flew under the radar. Good change.

How much herp could a herp derp derp if a herp derp could herp derp.
