Risk and reward

EVE has many risk and reward options, there are many activities with higher involvement than some realize when they complain.

Planetary interaction for example

You can launch from your control center every minute or two dispite it's small cargo. You can't route from storage to storage and expedited transfers take half an hour to cooldown. So if you have staggered production on high output planets and stay online to actively launch containers into space then pick them up later whenever you are around you can mass produce materials cheap. The launch into space option also bypasses a lot of taxes, and I mean a LOT of taxes.

The risk to that is people have to scan down your planet cans with probes to steal them from you, and if you mess up the math or get lazy then production is simply lost when it tries to deposit into a full structure. It's taking risk and working harder to essentially reduce production costs meaning your profit margins skyrocket.

EVE has so much depth and balance where many don't even see it. When most people see planetary interaction as set and forget for a week to gain a few mill (and it does work like that) some can see it as essentially afk mining in the way it works. You just open the window and launch every few minutes. Then pick it up later if it hasn't been stolen or you haven't forgotten about it for a few days as the cans do eventually re-enter the atmosphere and burn up.

Oh, I perfectly understand, Hal Morsh — a mission like this requires courage, skill, and heroism… qualities you are clearly lacking. Have you forgotten you're one of the bloody immortals!?

Oh Hal. If I didn't know you better I would think you were trolling.

Ain't nobody got time fo' 'dat!

I run 28 0.0 planets, including four factories which alone require a couple of Epithal runs every two days to keep fuelled, using the launch to space option would drive me straight through the raging waters of madness and into some unfathomable pool of psychosis on the other side. I have better things to do than cycle through planets on that kind of frequency.

I pay some hundreds of millions of ISK every month on alliance POCO taxes.
I also claim some hundreds of millions of ISK a month on alliance SRP.

It was quite the opposite in fact. Blink

It's one way min/maxers would have to effort to achieve. Someone small on a small level can leverage these functions to sneak themselfs into making isk on a saturated market essentially. CCP's got it figured out, this doesn't entirely feel like emergent gameplay.

hey, whatever floats your boat.
if you're happy to cycle through planets for a couple of hours every day to launch, go wild. i'll even go so far as to suggest you shorten the cycle times on your extractors while you're at it to truly maximise the return on your non-trivial *effort*.

Hal, you forgot to mention, the option of scoping out POCOs, wardeccing their owner, replacing the POCO with yours, and enjoying all the benefits of bulk delivery.

Or move somewhere where you don't need a wardec to take down a POCO.

Well I just tried and no, but they do show up on d-scan. So if you know its around the planet, just get a fast ship and d-scan towards it. You can navigate towards objects with d-scan. Just look at the new drifter findings hidden between jump gates.
